Actually, I do think that Episode III is the best of the trilogy.  Consider:

Episode I: Has Jake Lloyd and Jar Jar.
Episode III: Has no Jake Lloyd and very little Jar Jar.

Episode II: Has that horrible, grating romance.
Episode III: Has approximately 50% less horrible, grating romance.

Granted, everything he said about the vacant stupidity of the characters and the overuse of effects is dead on, but that was true of the previous two as well.  Episode III wins not for any increase in quality, but for possessing slightly fewer horrible flaws.

Agreed.  It's like watching the Olympics and seeing a figure skater fall all over herself, and when she manages to land the simplest jump, the crowd cheers just because she didn't Zamboni the ice for the next skater with her butt.  I mean, the prequel expectations were mighty, but for the most part these were just bad, baaaad films.
