You guys need Firefox with the Flashblock Add-on. All Flash elements are replaced with a "play" button, so you have to click them for them to load.

A useful tool yes, but some of us like to argue that the correct way of doing things involves not making it an issue to be 'solved' by third party software in the first place.

To be fair,
A forum page full of users with multipule animated baners can take just as long if not longer to load than the sample clips on the home page.
Every day of my life I find the wisest and best to fix our attention on the Good and the Beautiful. If you just take the time to look at it.

Oh I agree, which is why I checked the "Don't show users' signatures" option in the Look and Layout Preferences of my profile settings for when I'm logged in. Not that I have low bandwidth internet connectivity to worry about, but signatures are just something else to load that I don't care about and is wasting my time.

The store and the forum are different servers though.

it still doesn't make it right  (for the multipule animated sigs or the automatic samples)

Don't worry, I'll be looking at samples in the very, very near future.

Will be moving them to a dedicated media server and they will autoplay, but will not progressively download. Sound will be off unless the movie is clicked. (I hope).

That should solve all of the issues everyone is having. Please continue to hold and an operator will be right with you.

If you're still using dial-up your internet experience is going to suck anyway.

So I had some spare time and I put a bunch of samples on our streaming media server, and now that's how the home page samples are being served. You should notice a vast speed improvement loading the main / home page. Also, it starts off muted. (You can raise the volume using the slider, of course).

Now, commence rejoicing!

...

Spare time?... I don't believe you! Seriously though, thank you for making the sample muted. And there's even a nifty little Rifftrax logo that fades in and out now too. Groovy.
