OK anyone have difficulty installing service pack 3 for XP?

I've tried to do it a few times and it just sits there waiting to download. No other update does that.

IT takes a while to download - even with a cable modem :-\

Tripe

No but it doesn't seem to even start

OK so the bar goes all the way to the end on "waiting to download" or whatever that is. The it clears and reads "downloading" but it never even starts.

I'm wondering if I should just get the cd version.

RVR II

hmm.. not sure why that is at all :-\

From what I've heard you're not missing anything if you can't get SP3 installed. I've only heard complaints of SP3 slowing down computers, but that was for gaming.

yeah, same here..

I have it on all my computers and I haven't noticed a lot of difference..

Think it''s just security upgrades mostly

Tripe

OK well maybe I'll wait a bit then. :)

Here's another thing, I used to know this but it was a while ago that i did it so I can't remember how now, how do I shut off the fecking annoying feature on firefox whereby it starts guessing what page I want to look at as I'm typing an address in?

I know I need to do it by typing "about:config" in the location bar but I can't remember what I need to change to remove that function.

I must be dropping out of the loop and not even know it :-\

You're still using IE? RVR, man, get with the program...literally, in this case.
Indeed, it's pretty fricking handy. Get it and use the Noscript, Adblock, and flashblock addons. You'll feel like an Internet God.

Don't worry RVR, I'm pretty net savvy and I still use IE.  I have Firefox 3 but I rarely use it.  My computer has stayed virus-free! Yay!

Isn't that a contradiction in terms?

:D

I can view more plugins and extensions in my IE browser, but I have Firefox as a back up.
