Yeah, High Anxiety.  Anyone else find Madeline Kahn really attractive?  :)

Tripe

Without a doubt, in so many movies but especially Blazing Saddles and Clue. Completely gorgeous.

There's a short film she was in that was funny as hell called De Duva....a parody of Fellini films.   Death plays badminton.  Kahn plays Cousin Sigfrid....

If you ever get a chance to see this...well worth it.  I'm waiting for some extra cash to get this DVD.

Here's one:  High Anxiety or Silent Movie?

I don't claim to be a Mel Brooks expert, but I think three of his least liked, or to put it another way, least popular of his movies, would be Silent Movie,
Dracula : Dead and Loving It, and Robin Hood : Men in Tights.   So I would have to go with High Anxiety.  Some would also add To Be or Not to Be to that list, but it's hardly fair, seeing as how Mel Brooks did not direct it.

I think Life Stinks would be a better addition to that list.

Perhaps they should amend the title to Life Stinks STINKS!

Ah deja vu - I mentioned that same thing somewhere else on this board - I just didn't like that film at ALL.  I'm peeved at Brooks for being such a businessman with his properties - the way he's doing a Spaceballs animated show, and the whole Broadway musical then movie version of his own original movie.... It's just too much.

I think Brooks has the kind of humor where you have more fun quoting his movies than anything else.
But Rick Moranis really is great in Spaceballs - the crazy Canuck  :)

Yeah, it's kinda sad to think how Mel Brooks used to joke about a sequel at the end of most of his movies, and now he's doing something very similar to sequel-itis.....remake-itis!

Exactly!   I'd rather watch Dracula - Dead and Loving It because at least Peter MacNicol did a pretty good Renfield.

But I guess I'm the only one who still likes the silly slapstick of Silent Movie?   And the fact that Marcel Marseu was the only one who spoke in the film?  Oh well.

ChrisHanel

I never thought I would have to use this phrase, but Marcel Marseu can't singlehandedly save the film.

Tripe

Silent Movie is alright but High Anxiety is better.

Funny thing is that he jokes about sequels in his "remakes."  ( I saw the pre-broadway premeier of Young Frankenstein last week)
I meditate diligently every morning. The subject is Life and Love. I quit after three seconds.

I'll agree with that.  But you have to kind of admit that Silent Movie had a better ending.   The ending of High Anxiety is kind of weak....

Weak endings often seem to plauge Brooks' films, frankly.
