The RiffTrax works with every known release of Matt Damon's The Bourne Identity provided you get the correct region RiffTrax (PAL or NTSC) because the 'extended edition' included the theatrical cut on the same disc.

Yes there is a difference between the PAL and NTSC cuts.

I got 2 different copies and they both had a stupid extra scene at 1:18:00, and since my versions were multi-region 2&4 with Euro subtitles, I went with it and modified the RiffTrax to fit this version.

It's an 18 second scene of everyone eating dinner in silence.

Amazing stuff.

So it works with both of those versions you mentioned?

Is this the right version to use?

FINE

Only if it includes the standard cut as well. that's covered in the 20 questions thread.

So is it the extended cut or the regular?

Seems like the European regular cut may have an extra minute in it anyway.

QuoteAccording to Doug Liman's audio commentary on the American DVD, the European version of the film contains an additional 1:00 scene, which was cut to make the film shorter in the US. It is included among the bonus features on the American DVD and involves Jason and Marie eating with Eamon and his children at their farmhouse

Hmmm, according to this review the "Explosive Extended Edition" isn't quite so "extended" after all:

QuoteI should've expected this, but I'm feeling a little ripped off. Both the slipcover and keepcase art of this new edition of The Bourne Identity advertise that this DVD contains a "new movie experience." After all, this is an Explosive Extended Edition of the film. With that vocabulary, you'd kinda expect a longer cut. Wouldn't you? Well, no, actually, this DVD offers the same exact 119-minute cut of The Bourne Identity, and the extra footage—a tepid new opening and alternate ending—is relegated to the Bonus Materials section. (You can also access these low-quality, non-anamorphic widescreen scenes as you're watching the film, by pressing Enter when an icon appears.)

What's the runtime on the cut you guys are using?

Could someone who has the new supposed "extended" cut of the film check their DVD to see if those timecodes match up?The DVD looks like this:

When you hit play play on the menu of the "Extended Edition" you are taken to a screen the option to play the theatrical release or the explosive extended edition.  I hit "Play theatrical" on the version we riffed, and the timing matches up with yours.

So actually Edward, it looks like you are in luck.

Haha, OK, I thought I read they used the Extended cut, but I must has miss-remembered it.

OK, I'll get that one...

Thanks BT! You make alla this much easier!

I purchased the collection (It was $9.99 with a ticket for the 3rd film) before I knew there would be a Rifftrax for it. I'm pleased to see even more value in the DVD pack now that I can enjoy a Rifftrax with one of the films.

Just wanted to ask someone here to be sure: Is the Boune Identity in the Bourne Files Collection the theatrical version or the extended?

SmilinJackRoss

I posted this in the 20 Q's thread, but it bears repeating.  Check these time codes, see if they line up:

I put my copy of The Bourne Identity DVD in, and at 29 seconds into the film, there is a lightning crash and the screen turns blue with the opening scene of the film.  The end credits begin at 1:51:27, with "Directed by Doug Liman" appearing on the screen.

As long as you have the option to watch the "theatrical cut", I think you're in the clear.

EDIT:  My timecodes are for the U.S. region 1 version of the film.  If you're overseas, you'll have to look at bathtub's thread here.

They used the "extended cut" DVD, but riffed the theatrical version option on that disc.

It's exactly the same as Independence Day.

It's the theatrical cut, but the special/extended edition of the DVD comes with the theatrical edition as well, so everyone should have it.

Conor

It doesn't sound like there are any DVDs that won't work with this Riff.  Your DVD will either contain ONLY the theatrical release, or give you the option to pick the Theatrical Release.

RVR II

It lined up Perfect on my Version (Theatrical)..
You Have to select in the menu if you want the extended version; which I Did Not Do.

RVR II

There are 2 Theatrical Versions & 2 Extended Versions (1 Reg. Full Screen, and 1 Wide Screen each) on the "5 Star Collection" (U.S.)..
Shrink Identifies All 4.. You just need to select Whch Theatrical Version wou want to watch with the Rifftrax (Reg. Full Screen, or Wide Screen).
Should be the Same in PAL.. I Suppose..
I Like the 'Wide Screen' Version Myself ;D
JUST CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS ONE!! :D :D

BathTub

Well I don't count Full Screen, I just assume people would never touch it.

OK, so my brother is going to let me borrow his DVD of The Bourne Identity and he said it's the Collector's Edition and it doesn't say if it has the theatrical version on the disc. Did anyone try and sync up this version with rifftrax? Did it work? Do I need to hit the restart button and hope that maybe netflix will send me this tomorrow? Where do babies come from?
