Notification of Releases

I'm subscribed to the notification service, which is a nice feature. However...

Would it also be possible to notify us when other versions of existing Rifftrax become available?  Like, for example, '300'... I have to log in and go to the 300 information page to see if there's a PAL (UK) version.

It would be nice if information about a newly-available PAL version was automatically emailed to me.

Right now we don't have a separate way to do this, but we will always post something in the individual RiffTrax boards when PAL versions become available.  Right now for 300 it is going to be several more weeks since the DVD doesn't come out until then.

Ok, but you have to remember I have a brain like a sieve... I would have to put a reminder in my DateBk6 PalmPilot to check the 300 board in a couple of weeks to see if the PAL/UK '300' is available - and if it's not, then I'll probably have the reminder float day-by-day so I'll keep checking.

You ALREADY have a mechanism to notify interested folk about new Rifftrax relases... I know, 'cause I get them when they're posted ... why not use that same mechanism to announce new PAL releases as well?  It's not like they'll be inundated with messages! 

Anyway, I hope BathTub's antepodean efforts work with the UK release!

Ok, but as an alternative - and if you don't want to go to the trouble of a second list - how about just tagging the info onto the next standard notification? I'd be happy with that.

Not a bad idea... DaPenguin could update us all with each new release announcement. It'd at least give him something new to say other than "More Fantastic Riffs With More Rifftastic Guests!!" Although, having a cartoon penguin yelling about the latest PAL releases isn't as exciting or cryptic~

So, whatever... It's just a goofy foreign DVD format for goofy foreign type people anyway! PAL users be damned!

Well, if he's going to post to a thread, that's a place I have to visit, then.  I really want a passive system... one that notifies me automatically and proactively if it's available.  My life is complicated, I'm just trying to make it simpler by having less things to check!

If BathTub didn't mind posting to a Yahoo group, that would work for me.

How 'bout a thread accessible only to the mods and specifically set aside for announcing PAL releases?  If you click the little Notify button at the top of the thread, you'll automatically get an alert whenever something is added to it.
