The next Space Mutiny????

I think that I have found something as bad as Space Mutiny, it's called:

Star Crash.
... aka Female Space Invaders
... aka Scontri stellari oltre la terza dimensione (Italy)
... aka Star Battle Encounters
... aka Starcrash
... aka Stella Star
... aka The Adventures of Stella Star

Released in 1979, it stars David Hasselhoff, Christopher Plummer and Caroline Munro. This Italian-made film is an obvious rip-off of Star Wars and Barbarella.

As Mike says, this movie is a type 2 bad movie. It's not simply boring and bad -- it's ripe with opportunites to riff because it takes itself so seriously. The result is a mind-numbing incoherent series of unrelated scenes.

Only problem is I don't know if it's available on DVD. Perhaps Legends could pick up the rights to it cheap...

The Master Would Approve.

This should be posted over in the "choose this movie" thread in the General area.

I've seen it.  It's AWFUL.  Maybe in a good way...

I submit to you my poem entitled: The Next Space Mutiny.

Does it have floor buffers?

Does it have Grandma Daughters?

Does it have borrowed footage?

Can we be so lucky?

I shudder to think...

Thank you. Thank you.

Oh, lord, I remember Star Crash...
A friend of mine decided to rent a VHS copy of the thing from the back bins of the local (since gone out of buisness) video store, along with a copy of Flash Gordon. Sadly, I think this movie would be harder to riff than Manos or the stock footage sequences of Invasion of the Neptune Men - the movie itself just drags... and drags... and drags on. A half-hour felt like three to me and my friends.

On the plus side, Mike could easily make it better - and there is a bunch of potential with that Mork of Ork impersonator playing the wannabe Obi-Wan.

Battle Beyond the Stars?

This one is on DVD.
Grapes? I hate grapes, I can't stand grapes. I loathe grapes. All kinds of grapes. I hate green grapes and I hate purple grapes. I hate grapes with seeds, I hate grapes without seeds. I hate them peeled and nonpeeled. I hate them in bunches, one at a time and in small groups of twos and threes.

Manos The chafed!

And I do approve!!

Starcrash is available on dvd through Amazon.

Reviewer Michael Hightower says

QuoteAlright all you Plan 9 fans, pull up your pants, because you have an opportunity to experience the best that bad filmmaking has to offer. What?, you say, how could any movie beat my beloved Ed Wood or Russ Meyers, etc. Simple:

- Side of a spaceship decorated with an aerosol can and a tape dispenser
- A robot who is afraid of everything... evveerything
- Reformed teenage evangelist, Marjoe Gortner, as the most incredibly annoying character "in the whole universe!"
- The breast-decorated chair of the average-height Amazon women
- Charmingly cute stop-motion animation
- A spaceship shaped like a hand
- Said spaceship's bay window (whereby enemy torpedoes are launched)
- Torpedoes that have "Centurions" or some such nonsense in them.

And the list goes on. Forever. Every time I watch Star Crash, I discover something new and wonderful, such as the line, "Yay, we've did it." But that's only a small part of the magic that makes Star Crash such a genuinely enjoyable film.
