I'm glad you enjoyed the movie, Doctor Who?.

Bottom heavy?  It's in space.  They use artificial gravity generators.  I'm sure they can compensate for it.

You've never seen Space Mutiny?

Not everyone gets the jokes.

Oh was she joking?  Or was she ranting about nonsense?  I can't tell the difference.  My bad.

I can't wait for it to come to Blue Ray.

Am I the only one who flipped when I heard the old theme at the end on giant movie theater speakers?

That was the geek out moment of the year for me.

Also this movie had better win best SFX,I can't think of a single SFX scene that didn't look great.

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to say there, that looks like a bit of a word salad to me... but it seems to be something along the lines of "All the special effects were awesome."

Again, i haven't seen the movie. But there was a little preview of a scene during LOST last week where Kirk was running from the most generic looking CGI monsters, and they looked laughably bad. Although all the space ships and whatnot looked pretty good. So i image those parts of the movie probably look great in the theater.

Well I was on the fence about seeing this, but after witnessing Doctor Who's change of mind and the overall glowing reviews here and beyond in regards to it, I've decided to bend to peer pressure and see it this weekend.

Drugs are like Star Trek XI.

Watched it. Solid movie, I liked it. I'm not sure I like what it means for Star Trek as a whole, though. It was a good story, but I don't like the direction it's taking the franchise.

The "hoth" sequence isn't perhaps the best representation of the movie.  Personally, I think the trailer made the movie look bad.  The "I'm James Tiberius Kirk" announcement from the little kid was a terrible thing to put in the trailer, considering it's the only thing we see of him in the entire movie.

It was a terrible thing to leave in the movie.  Young Kirk and young Spock should be excised from the movie, I say.  After those two scenes, it was starting to look like all my worse fears would come true but then Chris Pine came swaggering into the scene and brought sexy back and I really couldn't stay mad at the movie.  It'd be like being mad at a unicorn.
I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!

I thought that was pretty freakin' cool as well :highfive:

Bob

So, for the most part, the verdict seems to be.....

The movie was good despite people's fears which was fueled by having totally crap trailers.

Awesome..... netflix, here I come.
