Yes, Iceman and his buddy are WAY too touchy feely.

kodiakthejuggler

There is NO air conditioning in this movie. Everyone SWEATS!!!

Ick.

sarcasm_made_Easy

maybe its in texas, this place has an insane humidity problem.

My uncle, who flew with the Air Force, made me watch the movie a number of times when it first came out on VHS. I'd forgotten how vapid that movie was after a blissful 10+ years of not having seen it again. I think they made the movie with two goals, and only two goals, in mind:

1) Jets are awesome and anyone who flies them are awesome and
2) Tom Cruise will rake in big bucks by being shirtless multiple times throughout the movie.

I wish, during the volleyball scene, all the guys had patted eachother on the bottoms. This would have given the movie a direction.

Even the extras in the background are shirtless and look like the are in their undies:

There is all kinds of wrong with this image:

Val looks a little apprehensive here:

Look at the guy at the left! ::shudder::

This is gonna get worse before it gets better...

Yeah. That scene with the two Toms in the bathroom, one in whitie-tighties and the other in...er.....whitie-tighties will haunt my every waking moment for about a week.

To very roughly quote that scene in the Simpsons when Homer goes running naked through the house in front of Pattie and Selma,"There goes the last, lingering thread of my heterosexuality."

The track drifted a little for me, but... HOLY CRAP!!!  What a friggin bad movie!!!  After about an hour, (which seemed like five), I turned to my friend and said, "WHAT IS THE PLOT??!!!"  I mean, christ!  Holy god, I can't believe what that hell I just saw!  I'm using exclamation marks all the time here because I am really very upset!!!

I never saw the movie and this was the first time and yadda yadda, Mike made me buy it, but holy weepin jesus on the cross... what a P.O.S.  I'm sure "Crossroads" was better and I purchased the rifftrax and not the movie just to support Mike, but after "Top Gun" I'm ready to watch it.  Holy goddamn!  WTF!! etc.

The riffing was good, whatever... but THE WORST MOVIE EVER!!!  Was it computer generated?  Cuz, the characters had muscles in all the wrong places, there were no humans involved... AHHH... AHHHHHHAAAHH!!!

... it hurt me...  OH GOD!  I have to show you on a doll how it hurt me... I may not forgive Legend Films... maybe I can file a lawsuit... oh my god I hated this move... oh... I am weeping....

OK.  That's over now.  Carry on.

This is what I've been telling my friends for years. Do they listen? Noooooooo

Maddox agrees.  As do I.
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

I had managed to never see Top Gun until recently, despite growing up obsessed with fighter jets. This movie cured me of any lingering interest. My roommate had seen it a few times and was amazed I'd never watched it. "Yeah, it's pretty bad, but I thought everyone was required by law to see it at least once." So I did my civic duty, whith Mike and Bill's help...

Top Gun is seriously one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and that's including MST3K. I never would've made it through without RiffTrax. There was nothing to keep my interest besides keeping a mental list of all the glaring homosexual undertones. Top Gun is gayer than most gay movies. It might even be gayer than gay porn.

Same here. I was really shocked at how insufferably bad it was. I usually make the assumption that a movie that has that level of success is at least competently made, but...sweet lord jesus what a crapfest this was. I can't imagine buying htis even as a ten-year-old.

My thoughts exactly.

I'd like to point out that I don't count the perceived "gayness" of the movie towards its suckitude. It would still suck without the latent homosexuality oozing from every frame. But it's just so distracting from what little plot there is.

Teaflax

It's the "latent" part of the homosexuality that makes it terrible If it had been overtly about proudly gay fighter pilots, then maybe it could have been at least mildly interesting.

Or at least the proud recipient of numerous awards from GLAAD.

John Waters couldn't have made a gayer movie.
