All I know is, I dont want to be in the same city as Sideswipe if he has the same reaction to the upcoming Transformers movie as I did watching Godzilla.

Why is Transformers coming out on the 4th of July, but neither of the FF movies have come out on the 4th?

Jesus Christ dudes, are we still all under the assumption that it's going to be bad just because Michael Bay directed? I already
got a bit of a preview for IGN's review of Transformers, and they did say that the movie is "pretty darn good". Although that seems
pretty cryptic and not detailed at all, it seems to me that the movie could end up being good to most everyone who sees it. IGN is
pretty accurate with their movie reviews. BTW here's a link to the quote:

Me, I'm a nitpicker. I have to prepare for for summer movies well in advance, even though I love them.

Why is Transformers coming out on the 4th of July, but neither of the FF movies have come out on the 4th?

The first FF opened on July 8 to avoid competition from War Of The Worlds. FF2 was initially scheduled to open this July 4, but then Transformers claimed it as well, and Fox wisely backed down. Even the Silver Surfer can't contend with Optimus Prime.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Transformers, as you may have gathered. It's basically a movie about giant robots blowing shit up, and if any director knows how to blow shit up with style, it's Michael Bay.

Plus, I liked Indipendance Day. The charicters where a little... 2D, but that can work, frankly.

Yeah I quite like Independence Day, It was completely ludicrous and bombastic but oddly enjoyable.
