Here it is with the 2 different sets of ears installed:

This took probably 30+ hours of work, way more than I expected when I bought the kit.
Lots of time masking to paint the different colors, then about 2 weeks just to put the hundreds of decals on:

I'm loving that more fringe items are being produced.  I wouldn't buy this or display it, but I thought it was amazing that someone thought, "that'd make a nice model kit!" and it got produced. :D

It is an 11" tall M*A*S*H movie poster 'character': https://www.monstersinmotion.com/cart/action-figures-figurines-c-24_166/mash-peace-poster-11-model-kit-p-32162.html

It's $99.99, but if that's a bit steep in price, there's also a six inch one for a 'measly' ::) $49.99:

Cast resin means it's probably a garage kit, each one made by hand, that would explain the price.

Resin is a pain to work with, hard to glue, hard to sand, can be hard to paint if the mold release doesn't clean off.

These days something like that would be way better 3D printed in normal plastic.

The cast resin one-at-a-time molding makes sense for the price.  Also makes sense with the likely low-production of them.

After reading what you wrote, I wonder how long it will be before companies start selling 3D printer code to produce fringe items like this?  [My guess is that there are, but most 3D code I'd guess is for more common items as yet.]  Of course, their potential purchasers are VERY small in number, given the cost of 3D printers, so they'd have less income from that, but I do think that may be a possibility for the future.

3D printables would have a drawback for collectors: they cannot be rare so will never increase in value, where limited runs will.  But they also have an upside: if one's dog or cat finds it and chews it up, you can just print another.  :D

It's already a thing.  There are plenty of people and some companies that sell .stl files for people to do their own 3D prints, I have been tempted to buy one or 2 but ended up finding a lower quality free version that was good enough for what I wanted or using a CAD program to make my own.  There are websites that specialize in letting people put their 3D models up for sale.  Not sure if people can make a living doing it, I would think you would have to spend a lot of time searching the free sites to make sure the stuff you are selling isn't ending up on them.

I got a fancy new computer chessboard and decided to make a video of my 1988 computer board playing against it.  While playing I didn't realize how long it went on, and also couldn't see in the camcorder viewfinder that the video quality was not great.  But I spent the time doing it so uploaded it anyway.

So sit back and watch chess pieces moving around for 45 minutes because the old computer has no way to resign and the new one took forever to finish the game.

Funny thing this reminded me of?  A stand-up comedy one-liner from an unremembered comedian:

"Yeah... I bought a humidifier and a dehumidifier, put them in the same room and let them duke it out."
