For years, horror fans have wondered what Night of the Living Dead would look like if it were a dinner show in Branson, MO. Well wonder no more, deeply weird people we just made up!

When a meteor lands in the Florida swamp, hillbillies start turning up with missing limbs, an insatiable desire for brains, and walking in a slow, zombie-like shuffle. The locals know who to blame: alligators. Turns out it's zombies, which may not be so bad a fate when you were planning to have possum for dinner. A local reporter has to stop the zombie hoard before the unthinkable happens and the concert by the surviving members of Lynyrd Skynyrd on the speedway infield is cancelled.

Starring noted Aquatic Champion Buster Crabbe as a sheriff who refuses to do a second take, The Alien Dead may be the only film in the nascent Chicken-Fried Zombie Flick genre, and that's probably a good thing. Join Mike, Kevin, and Bill for The Alien Dead.

It was basically a movie with no budget with locals cast as the various characters, and Buster Krabbe looking for drinking money a la John Carradine. And apparently zombies prefer gators over people since they ate all of them first. Makes you wonder how that food chain works for them. Could eat other swamp wildlife? Nah, just go to humans. They have no idea how to escape a slow moving zombie.

Oh yes, zombies know how to use tools at times, since we get a pitchfork death and a hanging.

It was like Boggy Creek 2. Except a little more ambitious and less stock footage.

Well that was a more Southern-y movie than Alien Outlaw and Hillbillies in a Haunted House combined. Somehow what bugged me more than anything else in the movie was this little exchange:

"We sure are a pair!"
"Pair of what?"
"Pair-a-Plegic!"

Spoken by two characters with fully functioning legs.
