They really lost an opportunity, though, by failing to comment on Anna Paquin's now-you-hear-it-now-you-don't Southern accent.
Not to mention Halle Berry's "can you tell me where my accent is from?" accent that she makes a half-hearted attempt at a couple of times during the movie. I noticed she abandoned it completely for the other two movies.

I believe she was still attempting something of an accent in X2, like the scene with Nightcrawler in the X Jet. In X3, she was basically just speaking as Halle Berry.  I guess the new hairdo she was sporting cut her accent ability as well.   ;)

Didn't I mention that she gets her ass beat down in this movie? heh heh

It's interesting to see all the comic geeks think this was a great movie and are knocked off their horses when Mike and Bill riffed one of their favorite movies. Comic Book movies are cheesy. They always have been. With the possible exception of batman begins, with Chirstopher Nolan directing. Memento, Insomnia, The Prestige. I thought it was funny. Great jokes. Worthy of riffing. American Pyscho, One Hour Photo, American Beauty, Fight Club, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, These are good movies. Comic book movies are just cheese. That's all there is to it.

This was pretty funny RiffTrax!  I have to respectfully disagree though about comic book movies being cheesy.  I enjoyed X-Men, Superman, Fantastic Four, Batman & Robin... :-[  Okay, even if they are cheesy, I like them very much!  Still, very few movies are above riffing.  So outside of Citizen Kane and The Wizard of Oz (maybe) I look forward to ANY movie being riffed.

Saying all comic book movies are cheesy is an extremely presumptuous accusation. Was Road To Perdition cheesy? Ghost World? Art School Confidential? From Hell? A History Of Violence? Tank Girl? Okay, Tank Girl's not a good example... You might as well say all movies adapted from novels are cheesy. Or all movies based on real people.

And American Psycho is easily as cheesy as any comic book movie.

I think Rifftrax has shown me that all movies are cheesy. :^)

A vast majority of them are cheesy. and please don't compare novels to comic books. I am sure Shakespeare or Dickens or any celebrated novelist would cringe at a comparison to comic books. With its wooden uninspired dialogue. Have you ever read American Psycho? You do know it is a book right? Perdition wasn't cheesy it just wasn't good. didn't see ghost world, or art school. Liked from hell, but it's johnny depp. history of violence wasn't cheesy, but again not very good. If you are putting novels adapted and comic books in the same category, then we are in serious trouble. Girl, Interupted, American Psycho, Fear and Loathing, Fight Club all novels. You also need to explain how american psycho is cheesy. did you understand the point (american greed/consumerism)? Concerning the real people movies. Girl, Interupted, Capote, Shattered Glass, Schindler's List, ect. are real people and good movies. The one comic book i did like was Johnny the homicidal maniac.

Well. I am glad you like them and are able to admit they are cheesy. I agree about no movie being too good to riff. If the riff is funny, who cares.

What I'm saying is that generalizing an entire medium is short-sighted and arrogant. You might as well say that all novels are as good as Dickens or Shakespeare (Who never wrote any novels that I can recall.)

But you like Jhonen Vasquez's stuff? That's even more disturbing...

sarcasm_made_Easy

alas Shakespeare's one and only novel was sadly forgotten by time, but his charectars were to far ahead of their time.  I dont think writing a book about strange mutated space bunnies from beyond the grave that go back in time and kill king aurthur was a good choice.

Wow, I'm sorry, but could you sound any more pretentious? I've read maybe two or three comic books in my entire life, but I wouldn't be so dismissive of an entire medium as compared to another medium (and there are plenty of shitty novels, by the way, to put it mildly). And then to assume that people here don't know which movies were adapted from novels. Yikes.

Oh, this is one of my favorite arguments. The old if-you-didn't-like-it-you-just-didn't-get-it.

Edit: Shakespeare wasn't a novelist, he was a playwright and a poet. And some of the "novels" you cite aren't novels. Girl, Interrupted, for example, is better classified as a memoir. At least get your facts straight (and maybe learn some basic grammar and punctuation while you're at it) before you try to pretend that you're smarter than everyone else.
That shocks my full military wear!

There is a great novel based on comicbooks: The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon, which tracks the lives of two comicbook creators from children to old men.  It's a beautiful book.

Plus, it gave us the Escapist, whose origins are even more convoluted than the Sentry.

I remember why I don't reply on these boards. I am constantly reminded of how dumb other people are. You really think comic books are masterful works of art? What's wrong with being dismissive of a genre that, for the most part, is lame? Into the whole everyone's opinion matters and should be considered. That my friends is a load of crap. People can like comic books, as long as they see them for what they are. Fast food. They're entertaining and fun, but have no real value. I'm sure you'll all be glad to know, This will be my final post. Long Live Mike Nelson's Rifftrax. I still can't believe people defend comic books.

Edit. I don't need to pretend to be smarter than you people. There are bad novels out there, but a hell of a lot more bad comics. I suggest you read everything Hunter Thompson has ever written. Probably the finest journalist of modern times.
