I learned why I only watched this once in the theaters back in '95, on the first day I had off in 3 and a half months (In mostly 10-12 hour shifts during that time). But that is why I remember watching it so well.

I learned this is less cheesy than Street Fighter, and yet somehow worse at the same time. SF was fun. This was a chore.

I learned Christopher Lambert had a blast making this. After the debacle that was Highlander 2, he earned it.

I learned Gymkata was a better riff because the movie was both cheaper and yet less ridiculous than this. And that we had a couple of Gymkata call backs in this. Thank you.

I learned Talisa Soto has the rare trifecta of being in a video game adaptation, a comic book adaptation, and was a Bond girl.

I learned Sonya 'Bridgette' Blade being Mrs. Pete Sampras does not lead to tennis jokes involving her. Is he that passe?

I learned Bridgette was so spindly and unconvincing as a kick ass anything even the guys called her out on it.

I learned the chief heavy that beat 60 guys in 60 seconds can be defeated in the span of a minute with a kick to the nards and then is easily tricked over a cliff.

I learned that if you were like me and had to buy the boxed set, you got the sequel MK: Annihilation. I learned it literally picks up with the scene MK left off on. I learned this is jarring because all but two of the characters have been recast! And somehow every new cast member was worse than the original. How... just how is that possible?

I was reminded of how great the soundtrack is, it's genuinely fantastic.

Urgh Vertical video!
