But yeah, the giant (from the unknown), was played by Buddy Baer, brother to one-time Heavyweight champ Max (who was father to TVs Jethro on the Beverly Hillbillies). And he boxed against Joe Louis in a couple of matches. This is the most famous one...

Highlights: The giant knocks Joe through the ropes. Then later, Joe hits the giant so hard that he spins a 360! Should have worn your conquistador helmet, Buddy.

Oh, and despite quips to the contrary, Buddy was pretty tall, he stood 6'6. He's no Glenn Manning by any means, but still.

Speaking of which, Sally Fraser starred here and in the War of the Colossal Beast and Earth vs. the Spider, so she knew giants (and that's another riff road not taken)
