Shouldn't the Oasis be absolutely crawling with furries?

Apparently, Furryism went extinct, I guess...

I learned that Spielberg still hasn't learned anything beyond using stock stereotypes for non-white races and ethnicities since Goonies.
That's an issue with the source material the movie is based on.

Iron Curtain

I also learned that in the future, cops arrest bad CEOs and black people trust cops.

Duly noted, but I wish Spielberg would've fixed it somehow...

I learned that there is no other video game than the Oasis, and that nobody would want to play any other type of game (such as an offline game) on any other platform.

Apparently you can play any other video game while in the Oasis. Seems like a waste of bandwidth, especially considering bandwidth limitations are cited as part of the fall of society. Incidentally, in the book, Wade wins the "extra life" by reaching the kill screen of Pac-Man. Makes more sense than him winning it from a random bet, but it wouldn't make for riveting cinema.

Speaking of the fall of society, it will be partially caused by a corn syrup drought. And this will be considered a bad thing.

Wow. The book was better*.

*in the respect that the "extra life" was from reaching the kill screen of Pac-Man rather than a random bet.

The guys are still pizza snobs.  Okay, I agree on Chuck E. Cheese, but Pizza Hut isn't the worst pizza on the planet.  That would be Little Caesar's.

They also don't like Doritos.  We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

Take it from this Brooklynite: The worst pizza on the planet is either

A. Pizza from California, or
B. Any Pizza from a place called "Ray's Pizza"

That is all.

The cops that randomly appeared just so they didn't have to kill the bad guy?
I survived the San Diego Comic Con 2010 Hall H stabbing.

I've never been to a "Ray's Pizza", but I did have a date want to go to California Pizza Kitchen, and...  Well...  I stand corrected.

Pastor of Muppets

I learned that a large corporation can operate SWAT teams, armed drones, explosives, and arrest people with impunity, and this will not bother the actual police forces in the slightest.
I'm not particularly religious, and I don't really like Muppets, but I do love word play.

ihavemyreasons

Watching it a second time and well...missed it on the first viewing, but the nerd Oasis creator's favorite things were all non-nerdy pop culture things (in addition to his favorite restaurant being Chucky Cheese's).

I learned that in the future, stacking mobile homes in impracticle mobile home racks is apparently more cost effective than replacing mobile home parks with tenement housing.
