Speed Racer's bastard animated spawn

As if the movie wasn't going to be of questionable merit enough,  I just saw a commercial (if you can call it that, it was only about 10 seconds long) on Cartoon Network for a direct to DVD turd known as "Speed Racer: The Next Generation: The Beginning'  Grantd I don't know anything else abot it other than that, but he title itself gives me the heebie-jeebies...

I saw the dvd in the back at work the other day, the character design looks absolutely retched.  Can't speak for anything else, but nothing on the cover convinced me I'd enjoy watching those characters on screen.  If I hear better I'll give it a chance, but it smells potently like quick cash-in to me.

Well a visit to Imdb confirmed my worst fears...

"Plot: An animated TV series centered on the child of the legendary Speed Racer -- a young talent named after his father who enrolls in an academy for the fastest kids on Earth."

Ugh, this looks to do for the Speed Racer legacy what "The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo" did for Hannah Barberra....
