Ridley Scott Says ALIEN: AWAKENING Is Up Next

Says Scott:

"There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of [the original] Alien ... It will go Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant."

One of two things is happening here: either Ridley Scott just fumbled the order of this new Alien trilogy he's working on, or the next Alien movie will somehow take place between Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. Either is as likely, so you decide how you want to interpret that.

When was that quote from?  Sounds like an old quote that the internet may have recycled.

There is a novel by Alan Dean Foster coming out in the fall called ALIEN:ORIGINS, that book is supposed to cover that time period.   If the studio has suddenly decided to make that movie Foster probably would have been told not to write the book or at least it would not be published until the movie comes out, he mentioned the book a couple of weeks ago.

I asked Alan Dean Foster if he knew anything about that, he probably couldn't say anything about it even if he did, but he did say the time between Prometheus and Covenant is something like 10 years so plenty of room for different stories to be told, that seems to suggest his book and the movie are different stories.
