My 6 year old loves the new MST3K.  He pays attention throughout the whole thing.  Except I think he ignores the riffing and just gets way into the movies.  I won't complain, though.

Johnny Unusual

There are definitely some movies where I totally get that: Untamed Youth, Kitten With a Whip, Danger: Diabolik...

If you're wandering who that was that played Herself in the movie, it was not the eel as riffed. There's a nightclub scene they cut out with a singer. The scene is probably the funniest thing in the movie. Would have liked to have seen it riffed.

Iron Curtain

As of late, I introduced my mom to MST3K, and I showed her "Pod People", "San Francisco International", "The Final Sacrifice", and "'Manos' The Hands of Fate". She enjoyed those episodes. She also saw the movie with me, which she enjoyed a lot as well. So I made a MSTie out of her.

However, when we both saw the first hour of "Reptilicus", she liked it even better than the classic series!

That's how you know the new MST3K hits its mark: if it gains even newer fans or people who prefer the newer episodes to the older ones. That's how you know it's evolving and growing and not just resting on its laurels.

Regarding the voices...

If I can't tell who's talking, I assume it must be Tom. Hampton Yount's Crow reminds me a LOT of Trace's Crow. And Jonah sounds like Jonah. Tom Servo OTOH neither sounds nor acts ANYTHING like Tom Servo, neither Kevin's nor Josh's. Baron Vaughn just sounds.. generic. And this is my biggest complaint about the show.

In all previous iterations of MST3K, Tom Servo was always my favorite character. But here, he is easily the weakest of the three. And that makes me sad. Other than that I'm loving the new season, so I really hope Servo/Vaughn gets better.

It gets better, or at least for me, it's getting better. Right round Episode 8, I feel like I know who's riffing and I'm starting to get a feel for who this Tom Servo is.

Agreed. His deliveries are always the weakest, and there's barely any sense of a character there at all.

There are three people in the theatre, and you can recognise two of the voices, and get confused when you hear a third one?

I've not had any trouble recognising any of the voices from the beginning, but I also don't really get the complaints that it even matters much - Never have in any riffing project. I don't hear a joke and then filter through who said it to decide if it is funny or not.

Pretty good! The riffing felt a bit scripted (blurted out quickly instead of relaxed), but was generally good. Loved the host segments!

Just re-watched it. Still found it to be very enjoyable, although there second half got a bit tedious. The riffing style didn't bother me as much this time.
