So, continuing the parade of losses of this year, apparently George S. Irving died on December 26th.

While probably best known to most as the voice of the Heat Miser from A Year Without a Santa Claus, I remember him best for his absolutely brilliant performance as the narrator of the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Trilogy.  Though the original book is abridged to fit onto one cassette tape, it is one of the most terrifying things I ever heard as a kid, and of course I have embedded it below.  Do not listen if you plan on being alone in the dark at any point during the next month.  Or alone in broad daylight.  Or just anywhere, really.

Also, for those interested, IMDb has their list of those we have lost this past year, if you can stand it.  Irving isn't on the list currently, but there are more than enough with 192 names to look through.  Some I had no idea were gone...Jon Polito, Fyvush Finkel, Pete Burns...but then come the people you knew about, but couldn't believe were this year alone. :(
One Man Band Riffs.  18 riffs, over 600 served, since 2009.

Just watched a terrible 2008 special with him reprising his role there. Weird.

Johnny Unusual

He was also the narrator of Underdog.
