Envelope will do.

I think I enjoyed Layer Cake better.

Indeed but in Layer Cake he wasn't supposed to be a suave, witty, manly secret agent....

In Casino Royale he was supposed to be.... but he wasn't.

Just don't let Mike or Kevin talk bad about Le Chiffre's bleeding eye.
(he's sensitive to that sort of thing)

He wasn't supposed to be suave or witty yet.  He as still a blunt instrument, man who used whatever it took to accomplish his mission.  He isn't "Bond, James Bond" yet in Casino Royale.

Perhaps.... but still, doing things like breaking into your boss's (sp?) apartment is inexcusable, but here it gets laughed off like 'Oh Bond." How come he gets to do that so early in his carreer. After all he's supposed to be this unwitty (not a word, I know) rookie.

I'm one of those sensitive type viewers. How gross is Casino Royale?  I've never watched a whole Bond movie before, but have seen little bits here and there of the old ones and they are waaaaaaaaaaaay too icky for me. People always get killed in bizarre, gross-out ways. So, what do you think, where is this one on the Gross-o-meter?    :-[

Close-up shot of a guy bleeding out of his eye, and a naked Bond sitting on a chair with a hole in the seat gets whacked in his double 0's with a giant rope.

Well, that's pretty icky but the description of it is hilarious!  Double 0s indeed.   Is that it? I can close my eyes and go la-la-la if those are the only gross scenes.

Well, MI-6 isn't the Boy Scouts, audacity counts for a lot.  Bond wasn't even supposed to know where M lived.  I think she was impressed with the ingenuity displayed by a new 00.  It's a sign to her that he has the makings of a very competent agent, even this early in his career.

he cant be both?

for the record comparing bond to any real clandestine operations is like calling battlefield earth a documentary.

I was so put off  at the apparent shelving of Pierce Brosnan for this blond underpants model (my initial impression of him, because I didn't know just who the hell he was)  as unforgivable.  As such, and the name (naming it after the Woody Allen spoof, either deliberately or no, still perplexes me)  I stayed away from it utterly. So was this even done by the original franchise, or do we have another 'Never Say Never Again?'

1. Not knowing who Daniel Craig is does nothing but help the character. Imagine Hugh Jackman as Bond for a moment. Yikes. Anyway, Brosnan has admitted, in so many words, that while he would've liked to make more Bond movies, he was as alarmed as anyone at how stupid they've gotten.

2. The god-awful spoof was itself named after the very first Ian Fleming 007 novel. Naming this film Casino Royale was one more way for the filmmakers to show they were bringing Bond back to his roots. Taking it back, in a manner.

3. Casino Royale was produced by Eon - the very same company who've made all 20 previous official Bond movies. It does however, have something very important in common with Never Say Never Again - it attempts to be a real Bond movie, and not a ridiculous Judo Chop Moore-style farce. Unlike NSNA, however, it succeeds admirably.

Casino Royale isn't perfect, but it did for the Bond franchise what Batman Begins has done - rescue a beloved character from a series of catastrophically ill-conceived movies. That said, riff away!

EVOLUTION117

Yes, this Bond Film is made by EON Productions, just like the previous 20 'Official' Bond Movies were as well.

No, it is not named after Woody Allen's spoof 'Casiono Royale'

It is named after Ian Flemming's first ever Bond Novel 'Casino Royale' and follows the storyline of said novel, albeit in a Modern Day setting and is a complete reboot of the Bond Franchise, allowing us to see Bond become the suave, witty, cold hearted bastard he was in the previous 20 films.

Don't believe me about the Cold Hearted bit? Then check out 'The Spy Who Loved Me' and watch for the scene when Roger Moore's Bond is about to make love to another woman, only for her to spot a man with a gun, so she screams out 'NO!.'

And what does Bond do?

Why, he gallantly chucks her in front of him as a human shield to protect himself from the would-be assassin and then dumps her lifeless corpse on the bed and leaves her there.

And then later on, for no apparent reason whatsoever, he decides to put a nearby 'Out of Order' sign on another corpse.
