Redlettermedia's SW reviews are an utter failure - fite me

Essentially, I was gonna find an established board with a pro-RLM "some of the best film criticism ever, really explains storytelling 101 and what everyone felt, should be shown in film schools, every challenger so far has failed and is a fanboi lmao", and post "fite me I'll win" on it.

Does the Rifftrax forum qualify for that? I've browsed around, and concluded that it does *shrug*

So basically the reviews are hapless nonsense and I've no idea how they could've acquired such an acclaim - for being valuable critique, let alone the final word on these movies.

Writing a long OP, tho? Already doing that elsewhere atm, no one's reading anything anyway.

So let's see where this goes.

They're not the end-all be-all of criticism. They're good in that they capture the problems that people who hate those movies have, and they do it in an entertaining way.

If you like Star Wars, and don't like RLM then...well people have different tastes.

Well I suppose that's a more accurate appraisal than "capture the problems those movies have", because they don't that well at all - most of the time, the real problems are overlooked and non-existent problems are made up; when real problems are brought up, they're analyzed very poorly.

Apparently, the people who hate these movies aren't the most reasonable bunch, which is entirely consistent with what I've observed in the last 5 years, actually ;)

I "like" RLM well enough to consider myself a "fan", but their SW reviews work as riffs only, they don't hold up as critique or analysis at all.
