Oh man have you guys seen this AWFUL PIECE OF SHIT CALLED THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION?
it's about this guy(Tim Robbins) Who walks around a marble room contemplating his past lives in an attempt
to direct where his next life is going to be. He seeks a holy man (Morgan Freeman) in an attempt to join
the priesthood and repent for what he's done. Aw man it's an awfully cheesy piece of shit oh it's so dumb
and horrible, I'm serious, that ACTUALLY is the plot of the movie! Oh it's so stupid, it's so stupid the only
stupider thing than the stupid movie is the stupid people who love it ya stupids!!! LOL
(No, I am dead serious, Shawshank Redemption is nothing more than TALKING HUMANS, LOL WHAT A
RIDICULOUS CONCEPT... TALKING TO EACH OTHER!!! LOL on CELLULOID!!! Isn't that
ridiculous!!! HAH HAH HAH!!!!)

(This is directed to all the assholes who think there is nothing more to Transformers the movie(1986) than talking trucks)

That movie is wildly overrated. It's good for what it is, and it's very watchable, but it's a bit saccharine and it really doesn't have anything spectacular going for it.

lol I get it now... I even used to work at a supermarket so I should've figured it out but, why the hell didn't you just say sugary. Is that word honestly in your everyday arsenal

Johnny_Short_Torso

Saccharine is an artificial sweetener... where would we be without our artificial sweetener? That's right! Stuck using high caloric alternatives like Sugar.

Yes? I didn't know it was that pretentious, honestly

There's a significant difference between saccharine and sugary, the latter can be a compliment and always means sweet while the former is nearly always an insult and can mean either sort of unpleasantly sweet or just generally too sentimental

Naw, I just didn't bother to pronounce it and the reference seemed obsure at the time (wont make that mistake again ;) )

So anyway, I actually 2nd Shawshank Redemption (I 2nd just about every movie though)

Also, it's always bugged me how much praise this film gets, when to me its only ever been 4 out of 5 stars.

I really like it.  Sorry.

One of the few good Stephen King adaptations ever done, I thought.
Hi!  I'm Randy and I'm a Riffaholic...

Hey, don't get me wrong, it's a good movie and it would be excessively elitist even for me to say it isn't due to its nerd popularity.

It's just not a great movie, that's all.

Hobbit

That and The Green Mile are the two most faithful Stephen King adaptations of all time, and they're very good.  Don't get me wrong, The Shawshank Redemption isn't exactly a masterpiece deserving of all awards, but it's a really good story that's brilliantly told, and with a rather (mostly) hilarious twist ending.  I love it, but I don't think it's good Rifftrax material.  All the characters cuss like, well, like prisoners, and it handles some really graphic issues, such as violent rape, cold-blooded murder, despair, suicide...  I don't think it's untouchable, but I think it's best left alone.

The Green Mile, however faithful, had a severe case of magical black man syndrome.

That wasn't a spoiler, Driving Miss Daisy had a magical black man, too.

That's what I mean.

Sure it is.  You may be using it as a metaphor, but "magical black man" is a literal in the case of the Green Mile.

Personally, I loved Shawshank Redemption.  I don't think it's one of the best films ever, but I can see why a majority of people love it so much.
