The Hulk show wasn't camp AT ALL. It was cheesy because it took itself so seriously. Banner would just wander into some new drama with new characters, somebody would make him mad, he'd hulk out in slow motion, then maybe he'd save some frumpy middle aged woman and give her flowers, then he'd be sad and leave town. Somebody ought to make a campy 60s style Hulk show with Stan Lee saying, "Meanwhile!" and "Tune in next week, same Hulk-time, same Hulk-channel!" That would be awesome. Their sound FX could be "SMASH!" and "CRUNCH!"

You're right. I used the description "camp" inappropriately. The Hulk show was cheesy, and it most likely hasn't aged well, so I still think the Hulk TV show wouldn't convert well into a modern movie.

QuoteFor anyone that doesn't know, Edward Norton is starring in the upcoming "Incredible Hulk" movie, which is scheduled to hit theaters on June 13th. What's strange, is that Norton is nowhere to be seen. He should be out there promoting the film, but instead media outlets are struggling to schedule an interview.

In the recent months, Norton and Louis Leterrier (director) have been pushing for a longer, more detailed (2 hours 15 minutes) version of the film, but Marvel Studio are looking for something faster and more commercial (under 2 hours). As a result, a very public argument began, with lots of blame being thrown around. "It's as much Marvel's fault as it is Edward's," said Leterrier. "And my fault. It's everybody's fault! Or no one's fault, in a way. I regret that [Marvel and Norton] didn't come to an agreement where we could've all worked together."

After months of silence, Entertainment Weekly received a 257-word statement from Norton, which has been approved by Marvel and Universal, where he discusses the movie and the feud. Here is the full statement:

"Like so many people I've loved the story of The Hulk since I was a kid, so it was thrilling when Marvel asked me to write and help produce an altogether new screen incarnation, as well as play Bruce Banner. I grew up reading Marvel Comics and always loved the mythic dimension and contemporary themes in the stories, and I'm proud of the script I wrote.

In every phase of production, including the editing, working with Louis Leterrier has been wonderful... I've never had a better partner, and the collaboration with all the rest of the creative team has been terrific. Every good movie gets forged through collaboration, and different ideas among people who are all committed and respect the validity of each other's opinions is the heart of filmmaking. Regrettably, our healthy process, which is and should be a private matter, was misrepresented publicly as a 'dispute,' seized on by people looking for a good story, and has been distorted to such a degree that it risks distracting from the film itself, which Marvel, Universal and I refuse to let happen.

It has always been my firm conviction that films should speak for themselves and that knowing too much about how they are made diminishes the magic of watching them. All of us believe The Incredible Hulk will excite old fans and create new ones and be a huge hit... our focus has always been to deliver the Hulk that people have been waiting for and keep the worldwide love affair with the big green guy going strong.

I've loved the story of the Ed Norton/Marvel dispute since I was a kid. Hopefully someday they'll make that into a movie.

The EW article says that Marvel is going with the shorter, more "commercial" version in theaters, and that's fine.  They should treat it like the LotR movies, where they release a barebones theatrical edition DVD, as well as a deluxe DVD version that contains Norton's longer cut.  Include some special features about the post-production disputes, with interviews from both sides, and clear the air.

Norton is right, this type of "dispute" happens all the time on movies, but for some reason the press latched onto this one and made a big public deal out of it. I'm excited to see both cuts.

Thank God. I'm sick of every movie having to be over two hours long. It's ridiculous. There needs to be some kind of director's guild restriction on that kind of that. Put it on the DVD, you egotists.

As for Ed Norton not speaking to the press... obviously it means he has had a sex change.

QuoteFor a while, we've been hearing that the characters from the upcoming "Incredible Hulk" and "Iron Man" films would crossover into each other's movies. We weren't sure how, until now.

During "The Incredible Hulk" panel at the New York Comic-Con, director Louis Leterrier and actor Tim Roth showed some footage from the film that had Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) walk into a bar where General "Thunderbolt" Ross (William Hurt) is getting drunk. Below is what's said in the footage:

Stark: "It smells like stale beer in here."

Ross: "You always have such nice suits."

Star: "I hear you have a little problem." (talking about the Hulk)

This news comes after "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau commented on "The Avengers," stating that the film will eventually happen and that Downey would return to reprise his role.

I've done a thorough search and I can't find any threads dedicated to the Ed Norton Hulk movie that will be released on June 13th which should have had a thread alot sooner considering all the TV Spots and Movie Clips that have been released as of lately. So I decided to take it upon myself to start one.

Here is a link to an early review of the movie:

I'm guessing by this that if you liked Ironman you'll like The Incredible Hulk too. Which is a good thing on my end because I love a movie that doesn't disappoint like Indy 4 or Prince Caspian.

*edit* How silly of me not to give you all links to the TV Spots.
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

a pretty girl is like

I'm looking forward to it.

I had lots of fun with the director's previous Transporter movies.  I plan on turning the brain the off and enjoy the popcorny goodness of it all.
I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!

That didn't show up when I did a search. Plus my thread ids about the movie, not about Norton being cast in the movie. It's a little bit more topic related a title too.

Anyways, just watched this brand new trailer as link from Superhero Hype's front page:

I went to go see the Hulk with my friends when it first came out in 2003 and from what I've seen so far every single element of The Incredible Hulk is far superior.  Better actors, better writers, better special effects, better story, better director (I'm gonna get shunned for that one).

I'm a big fan of The Hulk and have been since I was like- 2. I actually liked the first Hulk movie (But I think I'm gonna LOVE the new one.)

It's okay... I enjoyed Daredevil... and both Fantastic Four movies.
