"Free Enterprise" is a movie that you have to seek out if you are in any way a Star Trek, Star wars, or comic book fan.

Also, if you are a Shatner fan, (I'm lookin at YOU Sharktopus), then you really have to see this movie.  I love it.  It really speaks to our generation, I think.  Although, I am slightly OUT of your generation, I still get it, so... whatever...

Not Riff worthy, or anything... just--- you have to see it... I'm sure many of you have.

Is that MAC lipstick you're wearing? Time and again, Randy, you prove your coolness.

Have you seen the Five Year Mission Extended Edition? It just reincorporates some of the scenes that were deleted for length from the theatrical release, but there's a Star Wars-style opening scroll that ends with "Many Bothans died to bring you this Extended Edition." Plus there's a new batshit audio commentary from the Shat himslef.

(Clicking may spoil a great joke if you haven't seen it.)

I actually mentioned Free Enterprise in my very first post here.

HA!  It's funny, I don't think I have the extended edition but I remember that joke.  I don't, however, remember the title crawl that you mention... (hilarious!) let me do some research into that and if I don't have the Extended Edition I will get it.

The spoiler gag's from the original. I just hid it for those who haven't seen the movie at all.

"That's it! Now you're learning. Anytime you ask out a waitress and she rejects you, the next words out your mouth must always be 'Maybe she's a lesbian.'"

Fun fact: In Free Enterprise Phil LaMarr plays Eric Wallace, who, as you may remember, made a complete ass of himself on Sci-Fi Vortex with Mike and Mary Jo Pehl.

I thought I was the only one who knew about that movie.  I think it's definitely an over-looked geek's delight.

Girlfriend: "Only if you have the Pan-n-Scan version."
Group: "Groooooaaaaannnn!"
Boyfriend: "I'm sorry, you guys."

[To Shat] "She can't hate you any more than your co-stars."

I remember that Sci-Fi Vortex thing.  I didn't realize LaMarr's character was based on anyone.
Snowhead the Blue Reindeer gave me all the presents in the world.

Oh, yeah. Love this film. And you know that you're in for a whole new level of geekishness when they start talking about Star Fleet Battles during the commentary. It's a shame that Altman hasn't lived up to it since. (He did The Specials, which was okay. Then he did the House of the Dead films, followed by Dead or Alive.)

Well, it's not like Free Enterprise was some great directorial achievement.

Funny, Shark, I was going to say the same thing, but I was afraid I might offend.  To be fair though, for a light comedy you don't need to be a great director, just a competent one.

There's a difference between "competently done", like "Free Enterprise" and "Oh, dear lord! Look at this cinematic train wreck!" like the House of the Dead films. It's like the difference between "The dentist filled my cavity" and "AHHHHHHHH!!!! THAT'S A LIVE NERVE!!!!!!! OOOOOWWWWWWW!!!!!"

Right, I think that's what we're saying, too.  A horror flick is A LOT harder and needs a really good director to make it work, I think.
