Eldon Tyrell is the owner of the Tyrell Corporation in Blade Runner, the company that makes the Replicants.  Apparently there are hints in Prometheus that Peter Weyland (namesake of the Weyland Yutani Corporation of the Alien series) knew Eldon, and that Eldon was trying to convince Peter to abandon his primitive android design in favor of something more advanced.
