Droobie

Quasi-new Rifftrax fan here.  About me:  my name's Drew and I'm 25 from Alexandria, VA.

I've been a fan of MST3K for a LONG time. One day, I was talking to a friend about how I wished MST3K never got cancelled and he told me about Rifftrax.

I checked out the X-Men rifftrax first.  I'm a huge comic book fan and X-Men is my favorite comic book series ever, so that one was a no brainer.

I just downloaded my second rifftrax, Daredevil, and am currently watching it now (LOVE the Ben Affleck/Bennifer jokes).

I'm definitely a fan now.  It's great having MST3K around again, even if it's in a slightly different form!

I'm trying to figure out my next download.  I liked the preview clip they showed of Wicker Man, but I found the movie to be so bad the first time around that I'm not sure I could stomach it again.  I enjoyed Terminator 3 so I'm curious about that one.  LOTR would be a no-brainer if I had the standard DVD.  I'll eventually watch 'em all, but which "episodes" are the must see episodes?

Hm...I really like The Matrix, Star Trek V and Point Break tracks, though the rest also have some really good stuff in them.  Welcome!

I'm tempted to recommend you start with T3 (because its my favorite), but it does have one or two running jokes ... nothing major, just a couple that might fly by without your knowledge .
Battelfield Earth is also one of their masterpieces in my opinion, so maybe start there.

(one the thing you'll notice about Rifftrax fans is that we all seem to have different favorites ;) )

Sharktopus

Star Trek V. As classic as they come.

As to which are a 'must see' there are a lot of us, myself included, whose first thought was, all of the above...  I know that doesn't help much, but as far as my first, it was Firewall.  This was for two reasons, First,  I happened to spy a copy of the DVD on sale for $6.99. (at the local VA Hospital Gift Shop, no less) Second, I am a big Harrison Ford fan, and as such will watch just about anything he does.  Granted some of his movies are better than others.  As far as Firewall goes, IMHO, Harrison did what he could with what both the script & director gave him to work with (which wasn't much)  As for all the complaints about the mumbling, etc, yeah it was a bit much, even for him.  (Then again I like to live in full denial and blame the director for limiting Harrison's delivery of this role...)

That's one of the default avatars.  For some reason, those are allowed to be larger than the user-uploaded or URL-referenced pictures.

I figured, but I was kinda hoping for at least two or three rifftrax that everyone thought were classics. ;)

And thanks for the suggestions, everyone.  :D  After the next newest episode releases, I'll definitely be downloading some older episodes. :)
