I found the meeting of Affleck and Garner was one of the most disturbing things in modern cinema.  Think about it; a woman is being harassed by a man in a restaurant so she leaves.  The man follows her demanding her personal information.  When she refuses he grabs her and she tries to defend herself.  In response the man's assault becomes more violent.  Finally after struggling for several minutes she acquiesces.  And this is supposed to be romantic rather than creepy.

Did the filmmakers realize how this scene played out.

He's also imbued with special powers after being blinded and she's able to come back from the dead! I think the little things can slide when faced with the truly big and stupid stuff.  ;)  Nice observation though!

I can accept strange sense powers and willingness to go out and beat up criminals since that's the premise of the movie.  And the resurrection was a different film. :)

But after I've accepted the film's premise I expect things like people's reactions to be normal  and the movie to lack internal contradictions.  Those are the flaws in films that really bother me.  Like when Affleck is apparently a DA and an attorney in private practice.  Or the fact that he's more than willing to murder people throughout the movie (and they were murder in a legal definition which he should be quite familiar with), but claims he won't kill the Kingpin because he isn't a murderer.  That's the kind of thing that snaps my suspension of disbelief and once it's gone then I can go back and kick the goofy premise to death.

I think her magical ability to quickly recover from massive fork injuries are implied when BenDevil finds the locket on the rooftop.  As for not killing the Kingpin, I think that might because the character is meant to have completed his "arc", where he believes in justice and all that junk.

Considering that he threw a man out of a five story window not more than twenty minutes before (three minutes if you're the audience) I didn't find the sudden change of heart believable.  And it doesn't change the fact that he's a murderer.

I agree.  I think it's one of the reasons it's a very stupid movie.   ;)

According to the commentary on the director's cut, DD killing Quesada in the beginning was meant to show how low he'd sunk. (His arc, as Mr B said.) In the script he knocks Quesada onto the tracks in self defense - Quesada did have a gun to his head - and the train barrels down on him too fast to save him. DD didn't mean to kill him, but he also didn't feel that bad about it. Apparently the studio liked the cold-blooded killing, and there wasn't enough in the budget to shoot it differently, or so the director says. He didn't want to show DD murdering a guy, but his hands were tied.

As for DD throwing Bullseye out the window, Bullseye had just killed his girlfriend, plus he was trying to kill DD. Plus, if you watch the little scene in the middle of the credits, Bullseye's still alive.

I dunno why I'm always defending this movie. It is quite stupid. But dammit, it's a Daredevil movie! Hollywood actually made a Daredevil movie. It's hard not to love a movie featuring one of your favorite fictional characters, especialy one you never dreamed would get a movie, even if it does suck.

Part of the reason I always liked Daredevil as a character is that he's the most catholic of superheroes; an attorney by day, and a vigilante at night. Part of the reason the movie doesn't work is that it fails to really explore that inherent schism in the character.

Ever since the stupid ADA, blind guys think they can get away with anything.

Yeah Bullseye survives, but most people don't throw someone out of a five story window and expect them to live.  Daredevil tried to murder Bullseye (Bullseye was effectively subdued; even if Daredevil was concerned that he was going to attack again there were other options) and that makes his sudden change of heart with the Kingpin really incongruitous.

Daredevil has almost super-human remaining senses. He could sense that Elektra was interested in him, so he knew his advances were not over the line.

or...

The screenplay tells us these two should be together. That is all you need to know.

You know what I find even stranger?

The fact that there was a woman hitting a blind man with glasses and a blind man with glasses hitting a woman and there were none of those kinds of jokes!  Just kinda seemed like the perfect opportunity there. :)

That pretty much sums up my problem with the Daredevil Riff. Yes, Ben Affleck is irritating. Yes, he knocked up Jennifer Garner. We get it. Now make fun of the movie, guys. If I want to hear more shit about Bennifer 2.0 I'll pick up People Magazine. It's the same thing with the Scientology jokes. Enough already. There's a crappy movie to riff.
