Congrats on figuring out where you wanted to be and working on making it happen, Anais! Wishing the best for you!

Today I received my first 'Disney Movie Rewards'-points gift (using less than 1/3 of what I've accumulated).  The 3D 'Tangled' blu-ray.  Don't know if my brain is up to watching 3D right now, but hopefully soon. :)

There are some really nice 3D scenes in that.

That was partly why I chose it.  I read a review that said there were fewer 'jabbing at you' shots, but just a nice, believable, sometimes awesome, sense of depth throughout.  That's how I prefer my 3D most of the time (e.g. there's a 'smack you in the face with a tree branch' shot in the Doctor Who 50th 3D [hopefully that wasn't something I should have spoilered ;D] that yanks me right out of the story briefly).

I was thinking about this for a bit and realized a little something.  Do they still have 'Miller's Analogies' with the SATs?  If not, for those too young to remember them, or those overseas who don't get them or the SATs, they were a set of parallels one was to draw between different things, e.g. 'thing 1' is to 'x' as 'thing 2' is to 'y' with one of the variables missing and four options to choose from.  I came up with one for this very thing:  ;)

'Poke your eye out' shots are to 3D films, what _____ are to anime'  [answer in spoiler]

I worked for a company that administrates SAT's and other aptitude tests for 20 years until being laid off two years ago.  We handled everything from printing and shipping of tests to scoring and reporting.

Miller was losing popularity when I first started with the company, and became downright rare over the years, but some school districts still order it with their Stanford tests.  In truth, as more and more states have created their own college aptitude tests, the Stanford itself is dying, albeit slowly.

Managed to work up the energy to find a temporary doctor who can prescribe the hormones I'd like until I can get in to see the doctor in Aurora at the end of April, as well as finding a therapist who I think I'll be happy with. Of course, this energy MAY be from the 3 cups of coffee I had to jump start my colon, but whatever, I'll take it. I got things accomplished today, and plan on doing more. Last night, I spoke to someone on the website I mentioned in the Acute Psychological Distress thread, 7 Cups of Tea. I needed a vent again, and they actually suggested I volunteer to be a listener on the site. She said it helps her feel a lot better about herself, and it may help me, too. After I get dressed and get groceries, I'm going to do the things I need to do THAT.

Glad I chose to drink coffee this morning.

Variety of Cells

Just got the letter in the mail.  Passed my union test on the first try!  WWOOO!!!  People usually have to take it twice, and three or four times is pretty common as well.  Very excited.  Studied for three weeks straight so I'm glad that payed off.

And despite my fingerprints not really making useable prints on the new Texas digital equipment (3 visits there to try), the state renewed my concealed handgun license for another five years.

So relax people, Il Duce will protect you all.

That is very cool

Met the new therapist today. It was nothing special, just the routine of her asking a bunch of history questions and paperwork. I like her a LOT more than the therapist I had been seeing as a place holder, though. I don't get the super annoying hippy vibe. She seems like a very reasonable therapist, pretty similar to the ones I'd seen before that I really loved. And there's a couple of reassuring things, mainly the fact that the likelihood of being abandoned by her is virtually zero. She's her own boss, so there's no one to tell her that she can't treat me anymore. She also said that it's damn near impossible for her to give up on a patient and that she's very solution focused. If something isn't working, she'll try to find another option with me. There's also very little chance of her going to another practice and losing her, not only because she runs her own practice, but she just signed a lease on the office she's in, and she loves it there. It may be too early to call, but I don't know, I've got a good feeling about her. And, like John Hammond, I can usually tell instantly about people; it's a gift.

LucasM

Glad to hear that, QV! :)

Even with your feeling good about her, don't be surprised if you find you need to spend some time with her (possibly off and on for a few weeks, or maybe more), going over the feelings of abandonment by the previous therapists (which parallels the emotional abandonment by your parents).  After the previous therapists pulled the shit they did, it may still take a bit to trust this one enough to fully open up with, even with your good feelings about her.  But it sounds like she's someone who will 'weather the storm' with that.  I'm very pleased to hear it.

She definitely does seem like that. She was very clear that she didn't expect me to trust her completely right away. She's a stranger, and I have a hard time trusting people in her profession anymore. However, I think it will be countered by the fact that I'm so damned desperate to talk to someone.

And it came in the mail today.  So I am legal until 5/23/2019 now.
