Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music.

I agree with the Silent Hill movie being a good one.  There are far more awful movies than good ones.  Street Fighter, Mortal combat and (holds back vomit) Doom.

Here are some possible video games that could be turned into decent to good movies if they are done right.

The Legand of Dragoon (PS1)
Halo (As long as they don't diviate to far from what the game gave us)
God of War (PS2)
Zelda (Any nintendo system)
Prince of Persia (Would be a tad difficult since it would basically just be retelling the story. Would be good movie perhaps for those who don't like to play video games and thus don't know about it)

Those are just some quick ideas. I may come up with some more later. All of those could potentially be good tv series.

QuoteI loved the Silent Hill movie.  I've played all the games and felt that the movie was a great adaptation of them.  Although, I'm fully aware that many fans and critics disagree with me.

things to never have in your serious horror movie:  crowds of people chanting burn the witch.

Zelda  I just don't want to see done. Link has no personality at all, and the responsibility of creating it is left to the screenwriter, who:

1) Will not have any real talent, if Hollywood's track record stays on it's wonderful pattern of crap in the VG genre

2) Will have millions of fanboys hating him no matter *what* because everyone has a different idea of what to expect.

Lose-Lose situation. I think it hasn't been done yet because Nintendo knows better.

Brak

True but they did do that Zelda TV show i believe. And if i remember right they had that really wierd Japanese Zelda commercial that i got a laugh out of.

Trufire

That's why you have to have a good writer. That is the case for any good movie for the most part.

THE THREAD REVIVER STRIKES AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

QuoteComingSoon got the chance to speak to "Twilight" producer Wyck Godfrey about the status of the big screen adaptation of the "Gears of War" video game.

"We've got our script on and a director we're about to attach," revealed Godfrey. "We'll hopefully make that early next year for the summer of 2010."

Since its debut in November 2006, "Gears of War" has broken sales records on the Microsoft Xbox 360, selling more than 3 million copies worldwide. The game thrusts players into humankind's epic battle for survival against the Locust Horde, a nightmarish race of creatures that surface from the bowels of the planet. The story unfolds as a ragtag group of soldiers use every last ounce of strength to survive the onslaught from the forces of evil, which begins on the historic Emergence Day.

"The game thrusts players into humankind's epic battle blah blah blah..."

That should read, "The game lets players kill people with chainsaws and grenades."

From what I understand they already started filming a Prince of Persia game.  I'm gonna have to double check IMDB right now to be sure.....hmm maybe not.
A spell was cast and the sky turned red.  The Angel's heart froze to ice.  Roses of blood from an innocent soul.  On the plain lies an Angel dead.

Doctor Who?

So will this movie be the first video game movie to get an NC17 rating?

That's the only way I can see them doing justice to the chainsaw kills.

We can only hope.  The game could prove to be a promising movie franchise as well, as long as it's done properly and Uwe has nothing to do with it.

Halo would make a great movie as long as they stuck to the first game, before the Covenant turned into a joke.

Some day I'm going to make a list of all ape-creatures that have ever appeared in any form of media, and it will be roughly 400 pages long, and I will use it to beat people who think including ape-creatures in their sci-fi stories is a good idea. My first victim will be the tool who invented Brutes.

Doctor Who?

If they do end up doing Halo movies I wish they would save the Flood for the second movie instead of trying to shoehorn them into the first.

Just have the Chief fight the Covent in the first one.

Then you probably don't want to watch this trailer for the new Legend of Zelda film that 'm going to link to.  (Get it? Link to?)
