Cornjob

Yeah, sorry 'bout that.  I was searching for something else and ran across this thread and simply HAD to reply.
Failure is not an option.  It comes factory standard.

you should be sorry, we dont like types who post on topic round these parts.  either you bring up something irrelevant, trite and controversial or we are gonna have to ask you to leave sissy boy

1) There were no robots in The Sinus Show.

2) No one confused "Mr. Sinus Theatre 3000" with "Mystery Science Theater 3000."  Still, the show changed to "The Sinus Show" at the end of it.

3) I enjoy both the Sinus Show and Rifftrax.

4) The Sinus Show was funnier than any MST3K episode at the time, because they could riff movies that people loved as kids but which haven't aged well AND they could do it in a setting where you're in a packed movie house - usually having brought along at least 4 or 5 of your friends.

5) The Sinus Show are my friends - these are not nefarious people, and even acknowledged that the concept came from MST3K.  To ascribe a nefarious motive when all they wanted to do was to continue the tradition after MST3K went off the air is to seek malice in all it's forms.

It's comedy.  They don't steal jokes, they don't steal copyrights, they had some trademark issues, yes, but they were eventually resolved.  The only thing they took was the concept, and no one was doing that concept when MST3K went off the air.

They're not even performing anymore - the group broke up.  That "licencing" issue had more to do with the fact that they did want to become an official MST3K group - the talks broke down not because of money but because Best Brains didn't want to be associated with the F-bomb.  Which is fine.

I mean, damn... I don't understand how people could hate comedians for continuing an innovative style of comedy.  The reason I was curious about this is because I wanted to know what Mike thought about this, not what Best Brains thought - which is apparently less problematic than what many on this board feel.

I'm sorry, but if you're saying that I can't be an MST3K/Rifftrax fan AND a Sinus Show fan - I'll stick with the Sinus Show.

nice necro bump

heres the thing, as you say they are performing, this whole damned conversation defunct irrelevant and almost no one really cares one way or the other if they continue or stop.  Either they are funny or they arent other than that no one round here cares.

He said they aren't performing anymore, sarc. You've been slipping a lot lately, man, I'm starting to worry about you. Take more time to read the post, and less time hurrying to respond to every comment you see. It makes the conversation that much better!

Also you say no one around here cares. Come on. Anyone is entitled to talk about whatever they want. You post in every single thread on this forum, but no one ever tells you to stop because they "don't care" about what you're talking about.

I don't want to have to lock this thread. Lighten up a bit, would ya?

Harsh, man. It's kind of interesting that you went and turned around the Best Brains fighting over the name issue into a "I don't want to be an MST3K / RiffTrax fan, I'd rather be a Sinus fan" type of issue. Everyone has already said that it was up to BBI, the company that produced the show, and not the creators, writers or stars. I'm sure they could care less. Working with Mike I have realized that he's pretty much as laid back as you'd expect - so to pick the imitator's show over the original (better? funnier? I couldn't say) - is kind of weird. I don't think you should hate the show or those involved because of an issue that was out of their hands.

come on there must be at LEAST two threads i havent posted in lol, and you know if someone told me to stop id probably stop.  In fact CONNOR told me to stop yesterday and i did, i even apologized and redirected the conversation back the way it was supposed to.  (although i realize most people actively dont care about what i talk about ;) )

My point overall is that i dont think the people ( i think i could be wrong) here really care if the sinus show continues or not.  Like i said if they ARE funny then more power to them.  hell theres been a few people who have found other ones like them doing it.  Example that group in london someone told us about thats doing something similar.  They even recently did top gun just like rifftrax did.  Or that other guy who posts here about his show the cult of b movies or whatever it is.  bottom line if the sinus guys make us laugh we will be there, if not then we wont.  Thats all i meant, i didnt mean to come off so strong.

My other point was that it was a moot issue since the ARENT (there got it right this time) preforming anymore.  Its like asking if bob dole is a good senator.  Its moot.  :)

It's not that I don't want to be an MST3K/Rifftrax fan.  Hell, I do.  What I don't want is a forum where people bash my friends - and the Sinus guys are my friends.  (I know them because they also do local improv comedy.)

sarcasm_made_Easy

for the most part here man we are pretty neutral here.  This isnt really a mst3k board (we are fans usually ) we dont usually have a big problem with stuff like that.  these guys have come up twice i think in the total of almost a year this board has been here, and they werent slammed down hard or anything.
off topic question about austin: you ever been to the elephant room?

Your motives are decent, but since 99% of the people here don't know your friends personally, and only know them through the proxy of "what happened with Mr. Sinus?" that the opinions will, in general, be harsh. Kind of like why we all "hate" Britney Spears even though none of us know what she's like as a real person. She might give $1000 to every person that treats her nicely, but we'll never know, so we continue to say negative things about her. It's not that we have any real malice - but people who put themselves in situations which make them a public figure (even on the smaller scale of a Best Brains vs. Mr. Sinus, copyright infringement issue) is going to attract opinions from all those interested. And in this case I think its safe to assume there will be some defenders out there, but a lot of detractors as well.

Again I don't think it's that people hate your friends so much as they hate "what they did." Kind of cliche, I know, but I'm sure that if your friends were to start posting here to give their side of the story, and everyone got to know them on a personal level, things might cool down regarding the issue at hand. Just my thoughts, anyway.
