Look at the little bridges, how adorable:

They give you little decals to put on the clear one, with LEDs behind to light up the plastic, so you have displays that light up.  I didn't get the parts to make the workstations look real, they want way too much for that kit.  I'll experiment with painting it black and using the tip of an exacto knife to poke little holes in the paint for buttons and stuff.

The newly done over saucer hull (spoilered for size):

Looking forward to more updates!  Are you going to use the standard decals or get some custom ones to choose your own name for the ship?

I'm building it as the Enterprise, so I'll be using the standard decals.

Way, way, way too many hours spent on trying to paint the bridge.  And since you've got to use a big magnifying glass just to do it you see all the imperfections while you are doing it, but they are invisible when looking without a magnifying glass.  But even knowing that it's hard not to try and "stay in the lines" when doing it...

Lots of pictures, close ups first that make it look pretty terrible, then what it looks like installed and it looks pretty good to the naked eye.

Spoilered for size and mass quantities.....

Installed, I glued some aluminum foil around where the LEDs are to spread the light, there are more LEDs elsware that will put more light into the area when everything is done:

With the white dome installed, looks way better than I thought it would, I didn't think enough light would make it up to the dome to make it glow.

Dome removed:

Wheres all the crew?  Balok is talking to an empty bridge.
They all got sucked into space when I removed the bridge dome... ;D

Paragrafix does sell a photo etched sheet of brass with 1/350 crew members, glad I didn't get that now.  Bending, painting, and getting them positioned would have added hours.  For something that is going to be covered by the white dome most of the time anyway.

There is a clear dome, but that looks wrong.

There is something in that set I might attempt to do by printing on inkjet transparency, little silhouettes of crew members to glue onto the insides of the windows.

Lighting has been a pain, lots of installing, not liking the look, ripping it out and trying something different....

Had bought some thin sheet styrene to use as light diffusers for certain areas, glad I bought a big pack because I'm using way more than I thought I would.

Finally have something that I think I'll be happy with.

Those sets of 3 lights on the bottom of the saucer were driving me crazy, just no way to get enough light to them using what comes in the lighting kit.  So, ended up taking some LEDs off a spare strip and adding extra light just for those things.

So, I think I'm pretty close to closing up the saucer section, pretty scary.... :speechless:
The scary part is going to be filling and painting the seam without messing up the windows next to it....

Final configuration of the bottom saucer (hopefully) and slightly redone impulse engines:

And for fun a closeup of one of the LEDs I added:

Well, dont close anything up until you are 100% sure you ready to.

After taping it together and running the lights for a few hours I bit the bullet and glued the saucer together.
The seam is being a pain, doesn't help that there are all those darn windows right up next to it that need to be masked off while working on the seam...

Did get the neck glued up and those seams were easy to deal with, need a magnifying glass to see them now...

Painting the nacelles and struts, still deciding on what colors to use on the accents that attach to the nacelles.  I think I'm going to go with the color scheme in this shot from filming the effects for Space Seed:

Now if they could make a Battlestar Galactica and Imperial cruiser based on this scale..

Hey RVR, there's a guy out there that makes a kit to build a 3 foot long Galactica.
It's made from resin so weighs something like 16 pounds.
Google Mike Salzo...

Some quick and dirty images of what I have done so far.
The neck and saucer are not glued yet, nor is the impulse engine bump.

Ignore the color, the flash on the little point and shoot really makes it look blue, it is more grey in room light.
