No, she just figured it was from the comics and was in the movie to pay service to them... which is pretty much dead on. She understands the limitations of a 3 hour movie versus a full-length comic/novel. Nobody who's being rational about it expects an adapted work crammed into a shorter time frame to make 100% sense compared to the original source material. :)

Finally saw this and I liked it.  However, it didn't really make me "feel" anything.  I think that's a mix of the limitations of an adaptation, my love of and familiarity with the story and. as some critics have said, a sense of sterility.  Unlike some fans, I certainly don't consider it to be the bible of comics (that honor goes to Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud) but it definitely is one of the great comics and the understandable cutting and changing is going to cause some problems.  Still, I liked it and my complaints are generally quite small.

Also, a bit more gory than the already bloody book.

Barely on the subject, it just occured to me that if they decided to make a good Hellblazer movie (F U Keanu) they would have to time travel to get all the actors I think would do a good job and use magic to make them British)

Chaos

I agree on that point as well, though I don't think it falls under the category of ruining anything, it's just one of the small things they changed because Zack felt the need to tell us explicitly which characters were good (or he felt that some of them NEEDED to be explicitly good, anyway). A little misguided, perhaps, but overall not that big of a deal.

Doctor Who?

I have to say for some reason it seemed better the second time,I don't know why but now I feel like giving it an 8.5/10.

So... With the DVD and Blu-Ray out in a couple of weeks, what are the chances of seeing a Rifftrax for this one? I'll admit I haven't seen it yet, and what seems ultra-annoying is that the Blu-Ray Director's Cut isn't coming out over here.  May have to import...

dalem

Very riffable - you have the "greatest comic ever" theme, costume superhero theme, buncha unknown actors theme...

But it's pretty long as I recall.  I'd definitely want the full 3 guys and maybe even a guest.

It wouldn't be high on my list of choices, simply because of the length.

I love the comic movie riffs myself, but I know a lot of people are pretty over them too.
FINE

I forget, is the Black Freighter stuff added in for the Director's Cut? I know it'll be an extra on the disc along with Under the Hood, but the only scenes I know were added back into the movie for the DC is Hollis Mason's stuff.

I don't know; I haven't seen any detailed information yet on what the Director's cut includes.

Had a quick look on some DVD sites, and it's 28 minutes longer than the theatrical cut, but it doesn't include the Black Freighter footage.

Well, that's good at least.

Anyone else find these 3 hour movies hard to get through?

So long as I'm interested by the whole thing I don't mind how long it is. Though moments that would be boring in a shorter film do seem to drag on forever in the 180+ minute ones.

Well, that's kinda like asking if a 3 hour BJ is hard to be on the receiving end of, if the movie's good.  If it's bad, 3 minutes or 3 hours is too much.  If it's good, keep it coming.

Watching Lord of the Rings is more like giving Ron Jeremy a 3 hour Dirty Sanchez.
