The shorts section, how to clean it up?

I say we should have child boards for the year of release. In each child board of release year there should be only 1 thread to discuss the short. I looked back at a bunch of old shorts and most only have 1 or two threads at the most. Having just 1 thread to discuss the short or whatever anecdotes should be enough. 

Maybe in addition to the release year boards, there could be one at the top that the newest of the new get placed then after a period of time or number of shorts released the threads get moved to the release years.

So nested child boards are not an option in the forum software?  It would make cleaning up what's already there way easier, would only have to move the current child boards into the child boards for their proper year.

True most shorts only have posts in the release thread, but the really "good" ones have more.

OK, I've been given the go ahead to start tidying up the board.

I've just tried out the idea of adding a child board for the years and moving the shorts within those.

The problem is it doesn't make a tree so that you can see the shorts within the child board. So is this a good solution or a bad one?

Take a look before I push on too much further.

An alternative is that both the movies and shorts sections break off into their own entire sections, with years as boards and titles as child boards?

  I guess it will be an improvement as far as the looks of the main page, and will make it easier to get to the general discussion thread area since instead of 200 bold child boards it will be just the years with smaller lists of the child boards under each one.

Not sure if it will work for the full length board, it's kind of nice to have them all listed on the main page.

It's hard to say which way would be better.  This way will make the main page longer but will get every title listed on the main page, the other way would make the main page cleaner and people would have to click on the year or shorts discussion title to see the list(s) of shorts.

From an advertising perspective it would probably be best to have all the titles visible on the main page, even if it does make it a little longer. 

Edit:  This way would probably help navigating the full length tracks, I went looking for the Star Wars special the other day and picking it out of the mass of titles took a while.  Would be easier to scan them if they were broken up a bit.

Yeah, this is a big bonus for doing it this way. I think I'll carry on with this and see how it goes.

Since I number them when I store the mpegs so they list in order of release I can list all the ones since the last child board for Danger Keep Out was made:
