Awesome!  As a Star Wars fan, I'm always looking for new Star Wars material to hate.

Between Star Wars 7, Avengers 2, and Justice League, 2015 is gonna have a heck of a nerdy summer.

Don't forget Jurassic Park 4!!  (Which actually sounds like it might be good, based on what the writers state they want to do with it)
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

Star Wars is now guaranteed not to be directed by the one person in the world I don't want directing it.

I'm guessing Disney will hand it to one of the Pixar guys to direct the next Star Wars.

Or Michael Bay.

And Bay replaces the aliens with turtles.

Doggans brought up on FB & Twitter that the Muppets episode with the cast of Star Wars can finally come out on DVD now!

I've also mentioned that the new Star Tours at Disneyland and Hollywood Studios is the best Star Wars product in decades, so I trust Disney with the franchise.

Others have mentioned that between owning Marvel AND LucasFilm, there's nothing stopping Disney from giving Howard the Duck the remake he deserves!

I am thinking Gore Verbinski is a likely candidate.

I'm highly optimistic.  They already have a huge list of things they shouldn't do, and they can bring in great writers and directors.  Different imaginings and interpretations!?

I'm sure that not everything will be great, but the chance that something good could happen makes me very excited.

This sums up my feelings exactly. George Lucas has had a stranglehold on his property for a long time, and his "fuck you I do what I want" attitude toward the fans is something I doubt Disney will continue. Lucas could have that attitude because Star Wars was his artistic vision, but Star Wars is a cash cow for Disney, and I think they'll be far more willing to entertain the fans than Lucas ever was.

I would personally prefer if they got away from the Skywalker Saga altogether.  Set in the past, set it in the future, just don't mess up that story even more than it has.

And of course, it's not going to be one Star Wars film.  It's going to be a bloody series of them.

Oooor just redo the prequels and make then better and wipe out the existing ones, the Mouse has this power. ;)

Heh, Wil Wheaton just tweeted: OMG you know what the Disney purchase of Star Wars means? DANCING JAR JAR IN DISNEYLAND PARADES. We have to go back in time to fix this.

Is it bad that I want George Lucas to die so that someone can reboot the prequels and finally do eps 7-9?

They really have done an excellent job showing the progression from good to evil.  When they redo the Star Wars prequels they should hire the writers from Breaking Bad.

I would very much like to provide some input to the writing of those reboots, particularly in general plot and setting, I seem to recall doing a thread about that. :)

Character and dialog, I suck at (I let Jax do that generally, and she is fantastic at it) but world creation, that I'm pretty decent at. :)
