Why was he in the school?

Okay, I get why Violent Hick Antagonist was on the road, why he was in the bar, and why he might have snuck into the gas station, but WHY WAS THE VIOLENT HICK GUY IN THE SCHOOL BASEMENT? What possible reason did he have for going there? I mean he didn't have any way to KNOW that Wings Hauser would show up.
This is something I JUST thought of after my umpteenth rewatch and now it's driving me nuts.

Maybe I need to watch it again to see if this contradicts anything but I just assumed he was the school's janitor or maintenance man or something.
