Mesa of Lost Women

QuoteMesa of Lost Women! Not to be confused with the Plateau of Misplaced Babes, the Bayou of Wandering Broads, or the Tundra of Girlfriends Who Keep Trying to Get You to Ask for Directions but You're Simply Just Too Foolish and Proud. It's packed with everything you want in a vintage monster movie: giant spiders, dancing girls, spider-girls, DANCING spider-girls, mad scientists, square-jawed test pilots, and minor characters based on horribly dated ethnic stereotypes (we're looking at you, Pepe and Woo the "houseboy")! And, of course, nonstop wall-to-wall flamenco guitar. It's like everyone says, "Flamenco guitar: why have a little when you could have an insane amount that is clearly way too much?"

The action starts when an escaped mental patient forces a group of strangers onto an airplane, which subsequently crash-lands in a strange, deadly wilderness - which, coincidentally enough, was also how RiffTrax got started, so you definitely don't want to miss this one!

Oh lord, I've seen this movie, it's horrible!

Perfect Riffing material though

I once did one of those mythical MST season things and this along with From Hell it Came was one of my picks. I love this movie so I'm excited about this. Maybe now they'll do From Hell it Came.

Looking forward to this! :D

That was fast. Still haven't seen FRANKENSTEIN ISLAND. I heard of this one only recently on public domain film websites. I considered downloading it free, but I think I'll wait and buy the rifftrax version.

They're doing an awful lot of VOD titles.  Seems like they're moving away from the old ways and contemporary movies are becoming less and less common.

This one looks great!

Now if the cover man goes into action!

With the new one they are running 3 and 3 for this year so far. I can live with that ratio.

No it's just an observation.  I like the VODs because they're often better than the MP3 entries (which so often seem to be of a movie series with a lot of retreaded jokes), but I balk at the price.  I wish they'd just release the VODs on DVD instead of saying "okay here's a VOD and maybe some day we'll release it on DVD".

Looks like it's available for download.  8)

Some of the blockbusters feel forced, as if they did them because people expected them to do them, not because they clicked with the movie. Captain America fell really flat for me, as did Planet of the Apes. The writing just felt phoned in.

On the other hand, the VODs have been fantastic. These are the types of movies that riffing was made for; the types of movies that were featured on MST3K.

Agree, while it's great that they can do the occasional blockbluster that "fits" (The Twilight series, High School Musical), VODs are the best. I mean, I'm about as excited to see Captain America as I am to see them re-riff Hamlet. Well, almost.
