True story, I talked to a kid who'd just seen Happy Feet and asked her a few questions about it (she's around 7) One was if she learned anything from it or something like that (I wasn't expecting much) and she said, "People are bad." I was like "well . . . "  That's not exactly the message I try to get out when I'm talking about conservation.
mike5150 how tall are you?.....in gallons?

I remember fern gully as a kid, and that movie CRAMMED conservation down your throat and still seemed to be a better movie than happy feet was.  Hell even the message came off as better.

Paul Capello

lots of talk about Global Smarming. That's about it.

Happy Feet was a crappy kids movie. Something about it bored me to death and I didn't give a crap about the animals or people. The ending felt like a bad 80's movie with the CGI. I wish they where all dead. :P
Global warming, where?

you want to know my first thought as i was leaving the theaters:

NO what do you mean no you dont want to hear it?  screw you ill tell ya anyways:

My first thought (really) was "I wonder what penguins taste like"

I dont think that was what they were going for.

How was Ellen? I watched the whole show but I was kinda drunk. So I was unable to recognize if she was funny or not. I've always found her to be quite humorous. Hooray for The Departed!
Aaahh! This movie just throws you violently into the next scene!

I've had a penguin uncomfortably close to my mouth . . . not something I want to eat anytime soon  :D They have the worst breath of any animal alive, I tells ya.

I wasn't too impressed with Ellen. She didn't seem to be in top form.

Never thought id be saying this, but the oscars have sucked hardcore since they let billy crystal go.

The world needs a new bob hope

There were a couple moments, but overall not that good.

The part where she went out and talked to Scorsese and gave him her script was good, and having Speilberg take her picture with Eastwood was ok.

There was another joke about recycling after Al Gore was on stage.  She was told to recycle her old jokes, and it would have been funny had anyone actually heard the jokes originally.  Instead it just came across as a few pretty bad jokes.

And for whatever reason, I heard that theme during the soundtrack award for Pan's Labyrinth and ever since I've had this burning desire to see the movie again.  Hope DVD or high def release date is announced soon.

But you have to admit, If best documentary and best animated feature are the awards that you are upset about, that's a pretty good year for the oscars.  Best cinematography was a little upsetting, but the rest were pretty good choices.  Or maybe it's just because I didn't really care about any of the other movies.  I'm just glad that I can be satisfied with the main winners, like best picture and director and actor.

And did anybody notice after they announced the winner to an award and they were walking up to the stage, an announcer would tell what seemed like it should be a joke, but in such a way that it wasn't funny at all?  Like "Martin says the Departed is the first film he directed with a plot."  If you said it right, it could be funny.  But it was pitched as if they were announcing the players at a basketball game.  After a while, I couldn't stop laughing at how bad their delivery was.  So in that respect, they were pretty funny.

eh perhaps, it was still one of the most overtly politcal years ever in history i think.  I havent seen king of scotland or pursuit of happyness yet.  I want to see the two and compare them so i can see who i would have picked for best actor.

Minnesota

hehe, damned liberal Hollywood

(not serious of course)

minnesota you have an AL FRANKEN  avatar how could we possibly even come close to assuming you were antileft?

Phantom of Krankor

I was fine with most of the awards, but the ones I didn't agree with were ones I REALLY didn't agree with.

Mainly the sound awards. Iwo Jima? Dreamgirls?! Apocalypto, Pirates, and Flags had far better sound

Speaking of Apocalypto, I'm amazed how snubbed it was. It was clearly obvious that they were biased against Mel Gibson. Which is a shame, because I think it was one of the best movies I've ever seen.

Pan's Labrynith should've won best foreign film. How on earth did it lose?

Inconvinient Truth for best song. Whoo boy, there was so much wrong with this that it wasn't even funny. Can anyone say bias? And I agree, the overglorification of Al Gore was a little staggering.

And Cars, gosh I was dissapointed. Cars should've won hands down.

But I'm happy for Scorcese for best director and best picture. He's one of my most favourite directors. And I thought it was cool how Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, and Steven Spielberg presented it to him since they're all good friends. I loved the Departed BTW.
I am Ambassador Phantom, from the planet Krankor! I am rapidly approaching your planet... in the warship, which you have just seen. I will arrive tomorrow night at precisely eight o'clock. At that time I shall make my wishes known to you. You will obey them... or die! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!
