See my English degree focused on two areas: Renascence Drama and Victorian Literature (with a concentration on Popular/"underground" literature) so Lost Girls sounds right up my alley. Go have a perv read and let me know.

Plus my Nan used to live down the road from him.

She lives on a mountain?  Near crazy mountain man?

Moore is hit-or-miss for me.  Usually hit.  I really didn't enjoy "The Killing Joke."  Not that it wasn't good, it just made me uncomfortable.

Nope she doesn't live anywhere now, but when she was with us (the living) she lived in Northampton and yes he did look like that walking down the highstreet, flowing cape and all: He's more Catweazle than Mountainman (boy there's an obscure reference :))

He quite a bit greyer now.  Here's a pic from his wedding day a few months ago.

It was posted on Gaiman's blog a while back

I want that velvet blazer

Get the feather hat, too - you'll be so debonair.   Smashing!

I'm not much for bowlers however a nice fedora would indeed look smashing.

Was the wedding blessed by Glycon the Glove Puppet God?

How so?

I hope he and Neil are happy together!

There's some more pictures here, including the person he really married, Lost Girls artist, Melinda Gebbie.

Someone tore the cellophane wrapper off my local Borders' copy of Lost Girls. I'm usually in favor of unwrapping graphic novels - so's I can read 'em - but I wonder if maybe they should reshrink that one...

Alan actually his trimmed his beard! Forget the wedding, that's an occasion in itself.

I know Gaiman is rarely seen without a leather jacket, but I hope he didn't wear that hideous motorcycle jacket to a wedding.

Moore's hit-or-miss with me too. Like I loved the first volume of The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, but the second was just icky. Have you read Top Ten? That's my favorite of his. (Gasp, not Watchmen?!) I love police procedural, and Moore gives it a great twist. With Killing Joke, I enjoyed his origin for the Joker, but the stuff with Gordon was too much for me, too. Love the joke at the end, though. Nothing's creepier than Batman laughing. I should pick up that DC Stories of Alan Moore TPB - it's all gold except for that craptastic Manhunter story.

Sounds like a recommendation to me. Mind you, I did a new historicist critique of A Night in Moorish Harem as part of my degree, just so you know where I'm comming from.

Yeah, Watchmen's not my favorite Moore book either. Not because it's not terrific storytelling (it is), but simply because its politics are so completely dated (and thoroughly disproven, for that matter).

Can someone please explain to me the significance of the Pirate Comic the kid reads throughout Watchmen? I mean, it's a nice read, and I suppose it comments ironically on the fact that we're like the kid, in that we're just reading a comic, but there's something I'm obviously missing.
