Well, I just bought Karate Kid 3. It better be good, you guys.  Or else.

Should I threaten the majority who ranked Transformers 3 highly because I bought the Rifftrax & didn't much care for it? At least if you don't enjoy KK3, theoretically, you're still supporting an underdog.

Btw, Karate Kid 3 was one I was iffy on buying but immensely glad I did. As for Highlander, I was psyched about that and enjoyed it too. I remember reading a few posts from lapsed members who said they'd given up on Rifftrax but came back to buy the Highlander Rifftrax.

:D Hey...wait...I think I haven't gotten Karate Kid 3 either...

I blame all of you for the lack of Dune.

It would be more strategic to say: "I blame all of you for the lack of Super Mario Bros." You can only guilt them by blaming them for the lack of something they want too. I can't guilt anyone with my desire for Logan's Run.

I have Monday off from work.... Would be great if this released a day early..

nudge nudge, wink wink...

Raefire

I wonder how many "Bill is terrified of apes" jokes are gonna be in this one... or perhaps "One Got Fat" isn't canon?

The Third Rock pun made me simultaneously want to slow clap and throw tomatoes.

:D To be honest, I was a bit skeptical about this film working as Rifftrax fodder. Well, not the human half, any scene with James Franco, John Lithgow or the Aryan creep from Harry Potter should be gold. What I considered a challenge, and still do, is how to riff the "ape jailbreak" center of the film because it's essentially long passages of dialogue-free visual storytelling (they would constitute a brilliant silent short film if all the humans & dialogue were extricated). However, the film keeps jerking back to clunky human intrusions (hilariously pointed out by Half In the Bag), that I know at least 2/3 of the Rifftrax should work. IMO, I think we should consider 1/3 of this film a Rifftrax Challenge, because if they pull off the dialogue-free ape scenes they deserve extra praise. It's certainly not something I could figure out. But Sutter Cane deals with the anatomy of horror, not the anatomy of riffing.

Another plus for us "MST3K luddites" is that, since this isn't another damned Dreamworks/Paramount DVD, it just might work with the Riffplayer. 20th Century Fox DVDs have been compatible with the RIffplayer so far, haven't they?

A list of compatible Fox DVDs:
Avatar
The Happening
Independence Day
RiffTrax Presents: Alien (Director's Cut)
RiffTrax Presents: The Day After Tomorrow
RiffTrax Presents: X-Files Fight the Future
Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
Troll 2 (yes, it's MGM, who merged with Fox)
X-Men & X3

Anyway, I'm going to buy this because it's really their most unique non-VOD choice in a while.

And I need to buy a 2nd one for the 15% off coupon to work. Maybe I'll buy Jaws, to put my money where my mouth is (regarding 70's Rifftrax).

Yeah, Apes will work with the player.

I don't think anyone here thought it was terrible. Personally I've actually found Apes and Captain America way more watchable than the average blockbuster we tackle. Don't think I'd go to bat in terms of demanding any of my friends watch them, but both would be good movies if they happened to come on on an airplane and you hadn't seen them before.

The Breaking Dawn DVD, however, is going to be a complete bastard, isn't it.

Don't know if this has anything to do with the quality of the film itself, but the preview made me laugh less than most.
I'll probably not watch this one for a while since I'm still catching up on the older ones. Next up for me: Inception, Carnival of Lost Souls, Karate Kid and of course the new Twilight.

I never trust the previews.  I either find the previews funnier than the riff, or the riff funnier than the preview.... but never on par with each other.
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

I know what you're saying...maybe it's just the movie that bugs me. I have low tolerance for CGI.

FYI folks, I saw Target has the RotPotA DVD on sale this week for $9.00. Or $8.95 you're eco-friendly & bring your own reusable bag for checkout. Sometimes you have to remind them. I hate when they forget and I sound like an eco-friendly miser: "Do you still do that 5-cent bag thing?" as I gesture towards my tote bag.

Actually I love being an eco-miser when my purchase is tiny & cheap. Once I went in late at night to get the Highlander DVD for $5. Decided "why not bring in my tote bag, the damned sales tax is 10% anyway."
