War of the Insects

Last night I watched this one with my brother. Not sure why it's promoted as WAR OF THE INSECTS, when the title in the credits is clearly "GENOCIDE." The movie is pretty bad. The black guy overacts like crazy; the only white woman is psychotic; the American military are evil and careless; and there seems to be some hidden anti-nuclear message near the end. Then again, it is a Japanese film.

Some of the riffs aren't too bad.

"I keep telling you guys I'm not a ghostbuster."

"Why is the American being dubbed?"

"This movie's gonna be a big hit judging from the buzz I'm hearing. Yeah, well it's not that easy."

Hooray, our long national nightmare is over! New CT!

I actually sent a somewhat angry letter to the nice folks at CT regarding the lack of dvd releases RIGHT BEFORE I realized that they had just released this one. After apologizing copiously, I learned that "Rattlers" will be the next to be released. Yay!

As for "War of the Insects", I give it an 8 out of 10. There was plenty to laugh at, most of all bipolar Charley, who would have been funny even without riffs. But mostly, it's just good to have the gang back.

I've seen some negative reviews for this one - Maybe just because it had a lot to live up to after such a long break? But it was fantastic. Probably my second favourite of the live ones (after East Meets Watts)

Like it, don't love it, but sometimes it takes many viewings.  Like Frankensteing's Castle of Freaks and Geeks

Love when the dude is freaking out and the camera pulls away and he's just sitting there, great editing.

Fave riff:  Oh shit, this island has  vampires too?

Going to see CT live in March.  Insects is ahead of Alien Factor by 5 votes, either one would be great
