Downloads Are Hella Slow

[Jim Lahey]

Hey Guys,

Love your work but have one small gripe, your downloads are mind numbingly slow.

I'm looking at an hour to download Buffalo Rider on a 25mb cable connection. I hate to say it but if I were to torrent this I'd get it a lot quicker.

I notice that you're using S3 to host your files and I wonder have you looked into using the Cloudfront CDN to speed things up a bit? Might work especially well for customers not in the US(I'm in Ireland, there's an Amazon edge node just down the street...)

Anyway, it's a minor gripe,

Keep up the good work.

Well these full length VOD downloads are a bit over 4 Gb.  An hour doesn't sound that long.  I downloaded the most recent 3 VOD files and they took about 5 hours all together on a fiber connection.  I just start the downloads and go to bed.

This is a DivX, 800 meg, shouldn't take an hour! I'd torrent an 800 meg file in 10 minutes...

But now that you mention it... VOD!

Now colour me stupid!

Try downloading them in Mexico.. up to 20 hours sometimes
