Besides, the "bobble-head" design has been in place pretty much since the beginning. It works. Don't try to fix it.

To be fair, you guys say this every time we make a change. No matter how minor or major.

This myth of being us shackled to precedent is simply that, myth - especially being a web-based enterprise; we can't afford NOT to shake things up from time to time. As with anything, some will hit, some will miss.

Mike and the guys should be represented visually on the posters though, and that is coming - so just hang in there and we won't betray your trust. :)

And let's not forget that for every person who dislikes the new changes, there will be people who welcome it.  *ahem*me*ahem*  So there ain't no pleasin' everybody.  I am fascinated to see how the guys will be represented in future posters tho.

Change is fine by me as long as you keep riffing movies for me lol

RVR II

I just look forward to the DVD covers that are created ;D

Bob

Look at it this way, you are taking all the hits for Netflix and Facebook!

Personally, I really do not care a bit if it is the cartoon or the boobleheads.   Both look good (LOVED that Galaxy Invader art).   I think as long as you either have the guys or the toaster (fraking toaster) on the posters, you keep the brand image.

I think the next one should go for a more surrealist angle.  Something that would make Dali think you have gone too far.

Doctor Who?

Thor is the rare superhero movie that raises important questions. Namely, the important question "If Thor was considered the good superhero movie of 2011, just exactly how wretched must Green Lantern have been?"

Yes, Thor, for all its critical acclaim, features not one, not two, but three distinct scenes of our hero being rendered unconscious for comedic effect all within five minutes of each other! (For the record, in order: Thor is tazed, injected and hit by a van. Rumor has it the Extended Cut features a scene where he is trampled by a hungry hippo.)

No doubt this cartoonish buffoonery is the touch of acclaimed director Kenneth Branagh, whose intention for Thor seems to have been "Let's bring out the Shakespearean elements of the comic book, but instead of soliloquies, we'll have grunting, and instead of intrigue, more grunting." Sadly, Branagh fails to deliver on the demands made by the most hardcore Thor fans, that he bring to the silver screen the short lived 1985 plot line where Loki turns Thor into a frog and he helps other frogs defeat some rats (this actually happened and you should look it up right now.)

So you don't get any frogs, but you do get fanservice, a thoroughly implausible love story and performance by Sir Anthony Hopkins that were it any more phoned in, would be conducted through two tin cans and a piece of string. Mike, Kevin and Bill needed a nice long Odinsleep once this one was over.

ALSO: 20Q's makes a return this Friday - 9/23 at 11AM PST - for the title coming after Thor. (A feature that has less than 3 stars on IMDB)

I like the poster.

I am not sure I will be buying this one since I liked this movie so much.

Edward J Grug III

Yeah, I was about to post about how much I like this poster, my favourite of the new cartoony ones so far.

And I also don't think I will be buying this one, as I also really liked the movie (riffs of movies I really like almost always fall flat for me) and because Iron Man was one of the few riffs we had to stop watching because we weren't enjoying it.
FINE

k1

I've got the DVD all ripped and ready to reauthor.  Now we wait...

I like both the old bobblehead poster art & the new cartoonish art.

Doctor Who?

I just posted how much i like the new poster style, but for some reason it was marked as spam.

Bob

As soon as my link in "Posters for DVD Covers" is unmarked as spam, I posted a link for hires resources for covermakers.

stansimpson

Y'know all this talk about style change and no one complimented Disembaudio's bread-wings!

sarcasm_made_Easy

Actually until someone complained i didnt even realize there was a difference in style lol

Gotta tell ya' gang, I'm really not liking the new poster designs. The cartoony look really takes away from the impact.

Besides, the "bobble-head" design has been in place pretty much since the beginning. It works. Don't try to fix it.

And Mike, Kevin, and Bill are the "faces" of RiffTrax, and they should be on all the products. They're more of the brand mascots now than DisembAudio is.

So, because I just can't stand it, I created an alternate poster for your consideration.  Hope y'all like it.

:scared: So your solution is to give Kevin tits?! I feel safer with the cartoon poster.  :speechless:

Is there any connection between Iron Man & Thor beyond their comic superhero origins? I haven't seen Thor yet, but I have to imagine the styles are different simply based on the directors. Iron Man was directed by Jon Favreau & Thor was directed by Kenneth Branagh. Iron Man had a pretty tongue in cheek, self-deprecating sense of humor; I've gotten the impression that Thor takes itself much more seriously (Branagh usually directs Shakespeare, after all). Do tell me if my impression is wrong, though.

I didn't enjoy the Iron Man Rifftrax much either, but I put that down to the film's jokey quality; I had a similar reaction to the Pirates riff. Is anyone in Thor as amusingly quirky as Robert Downey Jr or Johnny Depp? (Thor looked pretty straight-faced in that 7-11 Slurpee ad)

Russell

This movie reminds me of that line from unforgiven
"Ya Thors, ya got no lores!!!!"

How about a Thor-spin on some dialogue from Space Cowboys?
