1. Buy this: http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Trilogy-Harrison-Ford/dp/B001EN71DG/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1314772038&sr=1-1

2. Buy upconverting DVD player.

3. Select the original theatrical editions when playing the movies.

4. Enjoy.

And if you're gonna whine about the fact that they're letterboxed, grow up.

Or I could just not waist my money.  Grown ups don't spend money on something they know they are never going to use.

Do you buy every movie that comes out, have you ever said that a movie you watched was not perfect?  If so then under your own logic you are worthless garbage who needs to grow up.  Either buy every movie ever made and say it is perfect and never say that there is anything wrong with any movie or grow up.  That is your logic in a nutshell.

If the Vader scream is true, I'm guessing it's to tie it in with the ending of III.  Lucas seems hell-bent in making sure the events of the first three parallel the major events of Wars, Empire, and Jedi.

And you know what?  The only reason I'm not particularly fine with these changes is that they're still not including the original versions.  I heard Metropolis is being re-released with the Giorgio Mororder music and 90-minute cut, and people are actually excited about it...mostly because you can buy Metropolis restored in its original state.  If the originals were available, I don't think a person in the world would have a problem with the Special Editions and the tweaks and changes...it's only because we're forced to watch these cuts or else.

Hell, as ugly as the original version looked, I'm not even really happy that they took out puppet Yoda in Ep. 1, since THAT version would be gone "forever," too.  What, just because people don't like it doesn't mean it deserves to be fiddled with any more than the beloved versions do.  I'd be just as appalled if Sam Raimi took the "American" cut of Army of Darkness off the market just because he preferred the "International" cut's ending...heck, it's one of the few times that, despite lacking some footage, I actually LIKE the shorter cut better.  Ridley Scott's "Legend," too.  I tend to think Ridley Scott is a little full of himself on commentary tracks, but the man's smart enough to know we want both versions if they're available, even if he himself prefers one over the other, and I admire him for that.

If Lucas only realized he could fiddle with his Special Editions all he wanted to and we wouldn't care one whit, just as long as the untouched ones were made available.  I don't remember if that argument was made here or on another forum I was reading, but I stand by that.

Thank you.

You don't see me complaining about the changes made to Doctor Who or Star trek and you want to know why?  because in both of those cases they did not destroy the original cuts so i don't care what changes they make because I can still watch the cuts that aired on TV decades ago.

I have my laser discs and I see no reason to buy these Blu Rays.

part of me wants an alternate audio track for the original trilogy where Mark Hamill redubbs all of Luke's lines in Joker voice.

Somehow, that would change the "power converters" line from cheesy to awesome.

If any of you guys are able to go to a convention where Mark Hammill is a guest, by all means please ask him to say that line as the Joker and get it on your camera.

The Prequels really were rather forgettable compared to the really original, original, non-mutilated trilogy. I love the effort Natalie Portman, Ewan McGregor and many others tried to put into their parts, but George Lucas left without a form inspiration tends to write very rambling pieces heavy on political non-intrigue nobody really wants to see. The focus he should have settled on was the Clone Wars right from the beginning. Seeing Qui gon and Obi-Wan discover Anakin as a teenager from the start would have been better than as a child because he'd have lived in slavery, developed a hint of a Dark Side much more effectively.
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

Is it just me or does Lucas not seem to know what a slave is?  I mean we hear people in the movies talk about how bad it is but from what i saw they seem to live the exact same lives as free people. We never see Anakin mistreated,in fact hs seems to just do a few chores and then gets to do whatever he ones inculeding take parts from the shop and make droids and car cars for no charage. We never see his mother or any of the other slaves having to work or being mistreated, and their houses seem very nice. I think i could have bought Anakin turning to the dark side a lot better if the first movie had been rated PG13 so we could have seen a down side to being a slave.

Weren't these movies already released years ago?  If you hated them then, you'll still hate them now, despite your spurious claims to be fans.

Doctor Who?

So do you like every movie that comes out?  Do you buy every movie on DvD and do you do nothing but talk about how perfect every movie is?

What is the point of this forum if people are only going to be allowed to say how perfect every movie ever made is?

Can we please have a mod come in and give us a ruling on if we are allowed to say we don't like a movie?  Does that violate forum rules?

Uh no.  I hate many movies.  The Godfather to name one example.  However, I do not claim to be a fan of the Godfather trilogy and then complain about how awful the Godfather is.  I'm straight up and say that I hate the Godfather.

Doctor Who?

Okay we have all said this many times but I guess it did not get through so now i will say it and I will do it in a way that if you miss it it is your own fault.

I

AM

A

FAN

OF

THE

THEATRICAL

CUTS

OF

STAR WARS.

I

THINK

THEY

ARE

SOME

OF

THE

BEST

ADVENTURE

MOVIES

EVER

MADE.

I

THINK

IF

YOU

ARE

GOING

TO

CHANGE

A

FILM

40 YEARS

LATTER

YOU

SHOULD

PEOPLE

STILL
WATCH
THE
FILMS
AS
THEY WERE
RELEASED.

I

THINK

THE

CGI

AND

NEW

LINES

ARE

OUT

OF

PLACE

AND

SOME

OF

THE

CHANGES

HURT

THE

CHARACTERS.

Can you understand that?

This will only be about the 500th time I have had to say it.

Please if you can't understand it get someone old and wiser then you to explain it to you because i am done repeating myself.

There are more kinds of slaves than just agricultural workers.  Even in the US there were "house slaves" which didn't have to do all the back-breaking things that the field hands did.  Romans had slaves who taught their children.

Slavery is not simply a one-note thing.

Also, calm down the histrionics.

i am not the one who is attacking other people.  Also I have made it clear I am a fan of the theatrical cuts(why else would i want them to get a Blu Ray release?),so to attack me just because I don't want to spend $90 on a new cut is just stupid.

Here is the thing yes i know about house slaves but most house slave live in their Master's houses and do some work for them.  We never see that in the movie.  I just think it would have worked better if we had at lease seen Watto yelling at and mistreating Anakin and his mother, then it would make sense that he was such an angry person. The trouble is we are told being a slave is bad but we are never shown it is bad and that is just a weakens in the films if you ask me.

Pak-Man

I don't think Anakin's supposed to be angry about being a slave (Watto seems greedy, but not cruel, and doesn't seem like a horrible person to have as an owner) as much as he is about the fact that his Mom didn't get to leave with him, and thus got killed by Sand People.

"Here is the thing," nobody did ask you, so I guess we can put that to rest.

So now i have to PM you and get your okay for every post I make?  I did not know that was one of the forum rules.  Again can I get a Mod to rule on this?

Oh and one more thing George Lucas wanted congress to pass a law back in the 80s to stop colour from being added to film,so how can he turn around and make far greater changes to films then just adding colour to them?

daltysmilth

There's a difference between someone like Ted Turner, who had nothing to do with any of the films he was colorizing, adding color at random to old movies that again he was not in any way involved with in the original production, and the creator of the film going back and changing things he wasn't happy with when the film was released.

Also, with the slavery thing, I think there's going to be an upcoming episode of the Clone Wars that deals with slavery in the Star Wars universe.  Maybe that will delve into the darker aspects of it.

I'm simply responding to your posit--you said "if you ask me," and nobody did.

This is something like the 500th time in the past few months you have used my using a common figure of speech as an excuse to launch into a personal attack on me. From now on I will be sure to add (figure of speech)every time i use a figure of speech so that i don't confuse you,it's wrong of me to expect someone who has the mind of a three year old to be able to understand things like figures of speech. Stop stalking me or I am reporting you to the mods. Also if i ever catch you using a figure of speech i am reproting you to the mods for doing what you have repeatedly attack me for doing.

We really need an ignore user button,I am sick of your bulling.
