Doctor Who?

Actually, Doc, I believe HD works in the context in which Raefire was using it.  In fact I would go as far as saying it works at least slightly better than widescreen.

Okay how.  Because even if the picture is not stretched or cropped changing a fullscrren image to a widescreen one doesn't add detail that is not their. Even on the best DvD player can not created detail that is not on the disc,at best it can guess but the detail is still not going to be HD.  As I read his post he seemed to thing that changing the shape of an image is the same as adding more detail to it,and unless there is some new type of media player out there that can not be done.  if detail is not there it is not there.

Actually, there is a thread around somewhere that talks about "Super-Resolution" for remastering MST3K episodes, which is a really interesting process.  I understand absolutely nothing about the math behind it (it's not a question of whether I COULD, but the fact that I hate algorithmic math and have no patience for it), but when working with video, the algorithm is able to take multiple frames and the best parts of each image, and based on that produce a picture that is a higher resolution than what you started with.  It's not an absolute miracle worker (it basically boils down to the computer making a 'best guess' scenario with the data fed into it), but if you have, say, old worn out VHS tapes, it would be possible to use a "Super-Resolution" plugin to blow up the image to HD resolutions and not have it be a mess of pixels.  Wikipedia has a definition as well as a sample image to show how it works.  I'm assuming most upconverting players do this on the fly with DVDs, but it could be done with an editing suite for a more permanent solution.

Now, this isn't something you'd want to do with film; film already has a very high definition, even in older films.  But in the case of old video, this stuff is a Godsend, because video doesn't really benefit from simple HD transfers...this would probably be the only way to 'enhance' it for the HD market and beyond.  Like I said, it isn't perfect, but the results are still astounding considering the medium, and it'd certainly spiff up stuff like Doctor Who, Fawlty Towers, and Monty Python episodes to a nice, glossy sheen.  I know it's definitely something I want for going through my old videotapes for archiving, if I could find a plugin that works on Adobe.

What was I talking about?  Oh, right, Star Wars.  What?  It's coming out on a Friday?  First the addition of the 'Noooo!' and now he's giving it a Twilight-esque release date?  No, this isn't right at all.

Didn't I point this out about 20 pages ago?
Probably, but even if you did it's worth repeating, don't you think?

Sure he can fly but does that also imply he can walk through walls?

Rainbow Dash

Clearly he flew into the gap in the rocks, causing a rock slide that damaged his flight thrusters, which is why they're never seen again.

It's like poetry!

Anyone heard about this "Stars War" movie some lumberjack made? I hear it's a fun kid's flick.

Tripe

Yeah but I heard the suits were always breathing down his ne k while he was making it. I bet if he'd been given totally free-rein the film would have been even more awesome!

Kete

Holy crap.  Look at this character that Lucas put in Episode 1:

Tripe

The kids are gonna love that.

Plus I'm sure it'll be a bit like Yoda; profound wisdom beneath a silly looking exterior.

I would pay good money to have Lucas put Jar Jar in eps 4-6 just to watch the internet meld down and fan boys all over the world fill ERs.
