Show me the place in his post where he says it's a good movie.

Show me in the forum rules where it says I have to say every Pixar movie is perfect.  Not everyone worships Pixar, you fanboys need to learn how to live with that.

I knew it! Only someone with supernatural good fortune could make a movie about a rat cooking in a kitchen work as well as it did.

Who's asking you to say every Pixar movie is perfect? I'm seriously curious for an answer here. Tell me what it is we're saying that you're interpreting as "worship Pixar, you heathen".

I can't speak for everyone else, but all *I* am saying is, Pixar has their own reasons for making the movies that they do. Those reasons might produce a bad movie, but that's no reason to assume that they were forced into it, or were doing it for cynical reasons. Sometimes, people want to make a movie for the fun of making it. Sometimes the results are good, sometimes they're bad.

Doc shut up for a second and listen.  HE DID NOT SAY THE MOVIE WAS GOOD.  EVER.  That was the exact point we were trying to make.  sorry for being sublte.  we dont care if you like that or ANY pixar movies.  And on a larger scale we are saying lasseter wanted to make the movie and disney didnt push him and STILL NOT SAYING ITS A GOOD MOVIE..

Other people have responded to Doc about my post much better than I could, so I'll just say "Yeah.  What they said."

Perhaps you haven't been reading this thread closely, but Disney didn't force Pixar to do anything.  This was a pet project for John Lassetter.  He wasn't trying to tug people's heartstrings with this one.  He just wanted to make a fun movie about talking cars and spies that the kids would like.  Pixar's biggest problem, as I see it, is that the better their movies are, the higher people's expectations get.  So if one of their movies isn't of the same caliber as Finding Nemo, people start saying they've lost their touch.

I'm curious, but was there really much expectation from Cars 2, other than it being a Pixar film? I don't know if it really got that many people I know excited, more cautiously hopeful than anything.  Perhaps it was different in the US?

I absolutely love pixar.  think its probably the best movie company in decades and i have to admit i have no interest in seeing it at present.

You're right.  I didn't read the thread.  I think I based my comment on rumors and hopes that it wasn't Pixar's fault.

I haven't given up on Pixar at all.  They are still my favorite movie company.  Only one failure in twelve is not bad.

The question I have is why do people think that Larry the Cable Guy is funny?

I'm not sure if it bothers me that his whole shtick is fake, or if it would bother me more if it were real.

Here's his real voice:

By the way, the video title calls him a fraud, but I don't agree.  That's like calling Pee Wee Herman a fraud for pretending to be a juvenile, or calling Carlos Mencia a fraud for pretending to be a Mexican.

I don't know....I think one of the things that bugs me is that he seems to be taking advantage of people.  People see him and think, "I can identify with that" (again, I don't know why).  In my view, it's almost like junk mail.  You get an authentic looking check in the mail that enrolls you in some program when you cash it.  It just prays on feeble minded people that don't know any better.

It seems pretty clear that if Jim Varney were still alive, he would've played Mater.  It wouldn't make me like the character any more, though.  :)

Lots of comedians have based their careers on fake personas and been successful because of it.  Jack Benny wasn't really a cheapskate and he actually got along quite well with Fred Allen.  Gracie Allen was actually a fairly smart woman.  Harpo Marx could talk.
