This Weird Al half-time thing might have some legs.

From Paul & Storm's website:

Quote
Weird Al. Super Bowl. YES.

The movement has begun. First in a NY Post article, then picked up at Nerdist. Tickles the brain, doesn't it? But it goes way beyond that "wouldn't it be neat?" feeling.

There is a serious case to be made. And so I present, point-by-point, why "Weird Al" Yankovic is the ideal entertainer for the Super Bowl XLVII Half Time Show:

Incredibly wide, positive appeal. Not only is he a genuine American icon, and not only has he continued to win NEW fans decade after decade, but if he were a politician, his negative poll ratings would be negligible. To quote The Simpsons: "He who is tired of Weird Al is tired of life."

Featuring Weird Al is to feature a wide swath of musical styles. "Another One Bites the Dust"..."Beat It"..."Smells Like Teen Spirit"..."Amish Paradise"..."Lump"..."Ridin'"..."Born This Way". Musically, what do they all have in common? Very little! But through his humor and personality, Weird Al appeals to fans of many types of music. No need to have gratuitous walk-ons by the musical Flavor of the Month. And that's even before you get to his original songs.

Unparalleled showmanship and production values. Weird Al's live show is a rock show disguised as a comedy show. All the elements are there: lights, video, costume changes, general spectacle. And given a stadium-sized budget? It would be awesome in every sense of the word. And though he wouldn't need to include the musical Flavor of the Month, odds are he'd find inventive ways to include them nonetheless.

Nerds are now cool. Yep. Geeks and nerds are currently at the leading edge of popular culture, a trend that doesn't show signs of ending any time soon. Tech innovators are celebrated. "The Big Bang Theory" pulls in killer ratings. EVERYONE carries little computers around in their pockets. Now is the time to bring one of nerdhood's heaviest guns to one of America's most celebrated events.

So go forth and spread the word. If a Facebook page can get Betty White on SNL, and netroots action can reverse the course of a major bank, there's no reason a strong net consensus can't help the NFL see the basic wisdom of having "Weird Al" Yankovic as the featured entertainer for the Super Bowl XLVII Half Time Show.

Make it so.

Come on NFL do it!  If you can use Modona 20 years after people stoped paying attention to her then you can give us Weird Al.

Clueless Bitch Embarrasses Husband and Alienates Teammates

So, Brady's supermodel wife was in classic form post Super Bowl. Here she is telling Tom that he played the best game of his life. Yeah, thanks honey. Not my two Super Bowl MVP performances, or maybe that one time I threw a record six touchdowns to get to the Super Bowl. No, this was definitely my best game. You really know your football, honey.

Watch his face right after she says it.

And here's Gisele endearing herself to Wes Welker and the rest of the Patriots.

In case you missed that, she said "My husband cannot fucking throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time!"

Again, thanks for looking out for me, honey! You're the greatest!

The Saints themselves are going to at the very least lose draft picks for it.

QuoteColts announce they're releasing Peyton Manning

Published March 07, 2012

Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS –  Peyton Manning's record-breaking run as quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts ended Wednesday, when owner Jim Irsay announced the team would release its best player.

Both men paused frequently, fighting tears and their voices shaking, when they appeared together at a news conference at the Colts' team complex.

"This has not been easy for Jim," Manning said, "and this has certainly not been easy for me."

The 35-year-old Manning will become a free agent, and there is expected be interest from a half-dozen or so NFL clubs, provided he's healthy. Manning is coming off a series of operations to his neck and missed all of last season.

Indianapolis needed to cut him this week to avoid paying him a $28 million bonus. The Colts are widely expected to begin moving on by taking Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the No. 1 overall pick in April's draft.

"It'll always be Colt," Manning said. "That'll never change."

He forever will be thought of around these parts as No. 18, the quarterback who led the Colts to an NFL championship.

He'll be remembered, too, for his record four MVP awards, his 50,000 yards passing and his 200 consecutive starts. Most of all, Manning will be the guy in the horseshoe helmet who turned around a franchise and transformed a basketball-loving city into a football hotbed that hosted the Super Bowl a month ago.

Arizona, Miami, Tennessee, Washington and the New York Jets all have been rumored as possible destinations; Manning's former offensive coordinator in Indianapolis, Tom Moore, worked for the Jets as a consultant last season.

Manning has said his goal was to play his entire career with the Colts, but a damaged nerve that forced him to have neck surgery kept him out of action for all of 2011, and not coincidentally, his team's record plummeted to 2-14.

Frankly, I kinda wish he would hang up the cleats and become an offensive coach himself. His legend is secure and I'd hate to see him risk any kind of serious neck injury.
