Also, when they do astrophysics shows, I really hate those.
Why?
I can't really articulate why.  I seem to remember that they get too much into the idea of multiple-universes, and it gets all philosophical and shit.

I like this is forum heresy, but my buddy and I started a podcast a while ago and I'm trying to get some ears on it. As an AVID Rifftrax fan I though I'd see if the group around here would give us a listen, read some of the ramblings on our blog and give us some feedback. If you're interested head on over to our site http://spoileralertpodcast.blogspot.com/. Thanks guys!

Do you guys ever mention RiffTrax?

radfordjoe

We do actually...not in this most recent one, but the last few I think. I can't get through many conversations without mentioning rifftrax.

What do you think is the best podcast for movies?  Something that focuses on new releases with occasional discussion of older films?  I like Doug Loves Movies, but wouldn't mind something that focused a little more on movies.

I like Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo's film reviews, though it's just an archived version of the radio show that's on every week.  It's also English, so the release dates will be out of whack with the US stuff.

Digigods is quite good too, reviewing all of the DVDs released that week.  They're both LA film critics and have a nice rapport.

There was an old, and I think now defunct podcast called Cinemaslave that I used to like.  The releases of the show became so infrequent though, that it was a little depressing.

I've tried Doug Loves Movies, but never really took to it.

I think Filmspotting is very good, and maybe the best I've heard. The two are from Chicago and have very good retention for older films and shedding light on some obscure gems whilst reviewing that week's opening movie (sometimes it's a blockbuster or an indie, depending on how much talk there is surrounding it).

I never really liked Filmspotting or the Slashfilm Cast, though I have a weird problem about listening to people younger than I am.

Walking The Room is like a trainwreck that I can't stop listening to.   :D

Starman!

All of the podcasts I listen to are SModcast Network shows, except for The Kevin and Bean show.

In order of my excitement:

Nerdist
Art of Wrestling
Doug Loves Movies
Smodcast
Comedy Film Nerds
Never Not Funny
Girl on Guy
Grizzly Bear Egg Cafe
The Thrilling Adventure Hour

I've tried the Nerdist, and while they have great guests, they always feel like they're trying too hard.  I like Chris Hardwicke when he guests on Comedy Bang Bang, though.

Wow, Filmspotting fits my request almost exactly.  Thanks for the recommendation!  I've listened to about 6 episodes and I really like it.  I think there are two issues, though:
1) I wanted more in depth discussion about the movies, but I wasn't thinking about the spoiler aspect.  They don't give away many plot points, but I do like to see a movie knowing almost nothing.  I think I just need to listen to the movie discussion only after I've seen the movie.
2) Adam is a bit pretentious.  When he forms his top 5 lists, it seems like he purposely picks movies that will make him seem smarter.  I enjoy the love for old movies, but when your top 5 list includes all movies from the 40s that even Robert Osborne doesn't know, you're reaching a bit too much.
