Do you really want her to answer that? :P

Dick in a Box was actually pretty funny once it got going.

Box in a Box was just a little too "wtf" for me.
Musically, it comes from the Xtina/Mariah/Beyonce school of songwriting, wherein young ladies are taught that it's better to have a song that showcases your lovely voice and vocal range than actually have a tune, and that doesn't sit well with me.
Lyrically, I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the logistics of the concept, especially as the box (the non-euphamistic one) was stuck on a belt and closer to her bellybutton than her... hootenanny. I mean, at best, it wouldn't actually be in the box, but maybe acting as a fourth wall to it. Kinda like a conservatory.

Nice boobs, though. ;D

That would be the same school that teaches the execrable "wave your hand around like you're trying to hail a cab in slow motion" technique of singing.

Yeah, not a fan of the whole "extend the National Anthem into a ten-minute vibrato concert" thing either.  Songs have melody for a reason.  That particular one has been around for a while now.  Francis Scott Key doesn't need your help, honey.

FYI,  the girl in the "Box in a box" video is only lip-syncing.  The actual singer and the vid star were both interviewed by Keith Olberman when this first came out.  I forget why they substituted since the singer seemed attractive enough.  Maybe it was for boobocological, breastamamojical reasons.

sarcasm_made_Easy

oh yeah that song is hilarious.  and i dont mean either of the two mention in video here. i mean the funny one from mst3k ep outlaw

What gave it away? The fact that her lips never quite matched the words? I assume. I wasn't actually looking at her lips. She had a mouth, right? I'm pretty sure she had a mouth...

"A Spanish language version of the Star Spangled Banner, "La Bandera de las Estrellas," was commissioned in 1919 per the request of the U.S Department of Education."

Has anyone else gotten that obnoxious chain email about "How dare Mexican immigrants sing the American National Anthem in Spanish?!?" Someone ought to send the bigoted jackass who started it that little nugget of information. Dipshit.

What you said...

Me either!   And that damned AMERICAN IDOL is only encouraging more craptastic singing like that..

I don't think this attitude comes from racism but more from exasperation over illegal immigration.  But it's cool you're being so open-minded about it and all :)

Despite popular belief, not all Spanish-speaking individuals in this country are illegal. (I know you know that, but Mr. or Ms. I'm So Upset By Hearing A Foreign Language In My Country That I Feel The Need To Spam People About It might not.)

Plus, Captain Spam went on to babble about how "our ancestors" never sang the Star-Spangled Banner in Italian, German, or "Celtic." I deleted the email, so I can't reproduce it word-for-word, but trust me, it dripped of the half-disguised, faux well-intentioned bigotry that's slowly and insidiously replacing full-blown racism in this country. Do we have to do everything half-assed in America these days? We even hate half-assed.

But I don't think this IS a "popular belief."  That is a really broad statement to make.  Some vastly ignorant people might think it, yeah, but in my experience it's a blessedly small minority.
