I think Uwe's getting too much credit for putting thought into this. He thought "Hey, people liked the kinetic direction of The Matrix so I'll stick in hundreds of uneccesary cuts into my films and whinge when people don't appreciate the technical merit". He thought "Hey, people like guns, monsters and David Lynch so I'll put them lots of men with guns, a stupid sex scene, awful CGI monsters in my film then stitch a shite ending on the end and call it 'Lynchian' and of course, whinge when people don't 'get it'".

Now all he's done is thought "Hey, people like controversy so what's the most controversial thing I could do...?".

He's just missed the point all over again.
